Job Description

Our client is a premier Logistics and Supply Chain company with a national presence, known for their innovative solutions and exceptional service. They are currently seeking a seasoned and dependable Cost and Management Accountant to join their Head Office team in Durban. Role Overview: The Cost and Management Accountant will be pivotal in evaluating and interpreting key financial data, providing strategic insights and regular reports to management, and implementing effective financial solutions. This role demands a senior professional with a robust background in finance and analysis, capable of independently monitoring, controlling, and reviewing financial processes to ensure precise reporting and effective risk management. Key Requirements and Skills: Minimum of 5 years’ experience in cost and management accounting roles. Strong finance background with extensive knowledge of cost accounting and reporting. Experience managing teams and partnering with internal and external stakeholders. Solid knowledge of basic accounting and financial principles. Excellent Excel skills; experience with Excel tools/dashboard software such as PowerBI is advantageous. Proficiency in PowerPoint and strong analytical skills. Excellent communication and problem-solving skills with attention to detail. Ability to collaborate and work well in a team. Commercially focused with the ability to interact with customers. In-depth knowledge of business systems, processes, and departments. Solution-driven and oriented. Key Responsibilities: Oversee inventory processes nationwide, investigating and resolving stock take variances. Prepare financial projections, including forecasting and budgeting. Review buy and sell rates across various services. Conduct shipment file sampling and audits, including billing and costing reviews. Manage the forex banking portfolio and monitor margins and commercials. Perform national procurement reviews and audits. Provide in-depth monthly analysis and reports on revenue and disbursements. Implement best practices and processes across regional sites. Offer operational and commercial support, including site visits. Present financial reports to Exco, MD, and FD. Handle ad-hoc requests and projects from MD and FD. Conduct internal audit reviews and submit reports to Exco. Perform risk assessments and provide recommendations to mitigate risks. Independently review financial reconciliations and processes. Develop and implement value-adding business dashboards in collaboration with IT and Finance. Train teams on financial processes and systems as needed. Identify and implement cost-saving opportunities. We welcome all applications from candidates that meet the above set requirements.
