Senior Software Engineer

Their Protection Platform is transforming the insurance sector with its unique single-sourcing capabilities. With collaborations with eight premier insurers in the UK, they are dedicated to providing exceptional value and convenience to their users.

They are in the midst of a significant transformation, shifting their platform to a SaaS model. This transition involves substantial updates to their business model, platform features, UI/UX, and overall user experience, enhancing their value proposition for customers.

Team Goals and Objectives:

Enhance the product to maintain its leadership in the protection market and develop new offerings.

Implement straightforward and efficient solutions to explore product features.

Treat data as a core component to support product team decisions and offer valuable insights to our partners.

Apply high engineering standards to strengthen their product, which includes:

Contributing to and maintaining existing systems/codebases

Engaging in greenfield development as part of our architectural modernization initiative

• A proven ability to deliver simple, effective software solutions

• Experience incrementally modernizing a software platform

Essential Technical Experience:

• Proficiency in our preferred tech stack: Java, Spring Boot, MySQL, k8s, AWS, Datadog
• Real-world solutions delivered using a Test-Driven Development (TDD) approach
• Solid understanding of Clean Code and methodologies like Ports & Adapters
• Collaborative software building practices such as pair programming
• Reliable, robust, and scalable solutions delivered on a Cloud platform
• End-to-end software solution ownership, including infrastructure, observability, and business metrics

Desirable Technical Experience:

• Working knowledge of our legacy tech stack: Grails, Groovy, Spock
• Familiarity with architectural approaches like modular monoliths or microservices
• Understanding of Domain-Driven Design (DDD) and techniques such as Event Storming
• Event-driven architectures
• API-first design approach
• Experience integrating and building solutions with partners such as Auth0, customer.io
