Junior Data Engineer

Our client, a Financial Institution based in Blackpool is hiring a Junior Data Engineer to join their large Data Engineering and technical delivery team who are transitioning from SQL Server to the cloud (Azure).

This is an exciting opportunity for a Data enthusiast who wants to develop their skill set in a company where they can progress into Senior Data positions. You will work with both traditional Data Engineering tools and modern cloud technologies while ensuring best practices in data management and quality control.

Extensive experience is not required as we will be providing; training, external courses, and certifications to develop people into SQL and Azure Data experts. Someone with 6months - 4 years of experience would be ideal as it's a Junior Data role.

What would I learn in this role?

• Designing and deploying business data ETL packages.
• T-SQL, SSIS, and the Microsoft SQL stack.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Knowledge of data quality, governance, and ETL processes.
• Experience with Azure services such as Data Factory, Power BI, and Pipelines (desirable).

Preferred Experience:

• Design and develop high-quality data solutions using T-SQL, SSIS, and SSRS.
• Translate high-level data solutions into workable designs and work packages.
• Implement optimized ETL processes from various internal and external data sources.
• Build data observability and promote self-testing pipelines.
• Ensure high performance, data governance, and reusability in all data platforms.

Desirable skills:

Experience with Azure Data Lake, CICD pipelines in Azure DevOps, and Delta Lake patterns.
Familiarity with Azure Active Directory for managed identity and service principles.
