Finance Director/Company Accountant

Permanent

Part Time Flex 3-4 days a week

Salary up to £65k

Based in Derby

LAB. are working with a well-established client in the construction and land waste removal sector to support them in their search for a Financial Director/Company Accountant to join their growing family run business.

We are looking for someone to lead the professionalisation of the in-house finance function and support the senior management team in the next phase of the companys growth. This is a hands-on role and were seeking someone that thrives on challenges, can analyse business performance and bring insight to help the team make well informed decisions. You need to bring passion and energy to the role and help the team make a positive difference to the performance of the business.

A background in waste management or construction would be desirable but not essential! However, you MUST be versed in Xero to hit the ground running.

Role and Responsibilities:

Financial Operations

-Managing and streamlining processes for the following:

-Managing financial transactions: purchases, new supplier set up, payments, payroll, invoices and related VAT, for UK.

-Produce Management Accounts.

-Ongoing cash management.

-Preparation (and design) of incisive management accounts, and analysis to support decision making processes by senior management.

-Preparing annual financial statements and tax returns, including the annual R&D tax credit claims.

-Management of the annual budgeting process.

-Ensuring general compliance with taxation and other requirements.

-Reports for Lenders as required.

-Maintenance of a rolling financial forecast which feeds into the preparation of long-range forecasts when required.

-Collaborating with other departments to support business decisions.

-Maintaining financial systems and software oversea the migration on to Xero from Sage 50

-Processing of payroll, HMRC and Pension related filing.

-Providing financial guidance and support to senior management.

-Other ad hoc project work as required.

Stakeholder Engagement

-Collaborate with other departments to provide financial insights and support for strategic initiatives.

-Communicate financial performance and key financial metrics to stakeholders, including senior management.

-Manage relationships with banks, lenders, and other financial institutions.

Qualifications:

-Bachelors degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or any other industry related field required.

-ACA, ACCA or CIMA certification is a plus or working towards.

Experience:

-Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in finance or accounting, with at least 5 years in a leadership/consulting role.

-Proven experience in financial planning, analysis, and strategy.

-Experience in managing financial operations.

Demonstrable Traits/Skills:

-A good positive attitude alongside the ability to show initiative and be a self-starter.

-Highly analytical and strategic in approach.

-Numerate with a strong current technical knowledge (accounting/taxation).

-Previous experience of transactional management, including payroll, and cash management.

-Strong communication skills at all levels within the organisation.

-Consultative and coaching style, rather than directive.

-Resilient and resolute in achieving goals and objectives.

-Ability to build and maintain relationships.

-Ability to work under pressure with good humour, and to motivate and inspire others to do the same.

-Experience working with financial reporting systems and databases.

-Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other financial software applications specifically Xero

-Project management/consultancy experience.
