You will be a key support to both the Head of Operations Finance and Director of Finance as you partner senior operational stakeholders to deliver largescale operating projects whilst ensuring team achieving the business-as-usual operating targets.

Travel will be required as your remit covers Scotland, the Northwest of England, the Midlands and Northern Ireland, however the frequency of travel is limited to the delivery of insightful and impactful information.

What you'll be doing

As the Finance Business Partner for Operations, you will support with driving optimum financial performance from Yodel's operations teams and embedding a culture of robust financial performance and cost control. It is crucial in this role that you set up, strong, trusting relationships with the operating teams within your remit, to ensure that together you deliver the results needed to meet the overarching financial targets of the organisation.

In addition to these duties, you will be responsible for the following:

  • Support service centre operations with their cost reduction plans ensuring that we are consistently operating at the lowest cost to serve model.
  • Work closely with divisional directors / regional managers in understanding their financials, looking at opportunities to remove operating costs, without compromising service metrics.
  • Support the operational finance analysts in the creation of cost forecasts for the service centres, making sure the operating teams are engaged in the process and understand exactly what targets need to be achieved.
  • Chair review meetings with the operating teams to assess performance against the signed off plans and work closely to remedy problematic costs areas.
  • Ensure you maintain tight control of weekly flashed cost performance, so ensure variances to period end results are kept to a minimum.
  • Ensure adherence to Yodel financial policies and procedures, maintaining robust financial and cash control and governance.

What you need to show us

The successful Finance Business Partner will be working in a similar business facing finance role and have strong stakeholder management experience. You will be a Finance professional that has the confidence to support and challenge colleagues if necessary. In addition, you will be ambitious and be able to communicate to all levels across the business, including the senior leadership team.

You need to possess the following skills/experience:

  • Ideally an understanding of the logistics and/or retail sectors
  • Utilises data/information to identify and forecast trends and understand impact, opportunities, costs, and risks to the business.
  • Ability to interpret finance data to none finance colleagues.
  • Ideally qualified (CIMA, ACCA or equivalent)
