The Role:

As the Head of Technical, you will manage and develop a skilled technical team, playing an active role in day-to-day operations. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys being directly involved in solving technical challenges, mentoring staff, and ensuring the smooth running of production processes.

Key Responsibilities:

• Team Management: Lead, support, and develop the technical team, ensuring they have the tools, training, and guidance needed to excel.
• Hands-On Problem Solving: Engage directly in troubleshooting and resolving technical issues during production, ensuring minimal downtime and consistent product quality.
• Product Development: Work with your team to develop and refine flexible packaging products, contributing to design and testing processes.
• Quality Assurance: Oversee the implementation of quality control measures, conducting regular checks to ensure products meet the highest standards.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate with departments such as R&D, production, and sales to ensure technical requirements are met across the business, including collating and synthesising information from these areas.
• Process Improvement: Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and product performance.
• Client Support: Provide technical expertise in client interactions, helping to address specific packaging needs.
• Sustainability Initiatives: Contribute to the development of sustainable packaging solutions that align with industry trends.

Candidate Profile:

• Materials Expertise: A strong understanding of flexible packaging materials is essential. Extensive knowledge of the properties, applications, and limitations of various packaging materials is required.
• Experience: At least 10 years in a technical role within the flexible packaging industry, with substantial experience in a hands-on, team management capacity.
• Technical Proficiency: Expertise in flexible packaging materials and production processes, with practical, hands-on application.
• Leadership: Proven experience in leading and developing technical teams, with a focus on collaboration and team success.
• Problem-Solving: A proactive approach to solving technical challenges, with the ability to engage directly with issues.
• Practical Innovation: A passion for innovation that translates into practical improvements and new product development.
• Education: A degree in Packaging Technology, Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field is preferred, but equivalent experience will be considered.
