Senior Software Engineer - 6 month contract

We are seeking a skilled and adaptable Software Engineer to join our team on a contract basis. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter who can quickly get to grips with our project’s domain and contribute both independently and as part of a collaborative team.

As a contractor, you will participate in design sessions, collaborate on implementation, and deliver high-quality solutions using modern technologies. You will be comfortable working within an Agile framework and contribute to a fast-paced, iterative development process. Test automation and continuous delivery are central to our workflow, and we expect you to bring your expertise in these areas.

What We’re Looking For:

• Experience: 5+ years in software development.
• Languages & Frameworks: Node.js and TypeScript, ideally full stack. Experience with web UI frameworks such as React is a plus.
• API Development: Proficiency in designing and implementing RESTful HTTP APIs.
• Database Skills: Experience with RDBMS, PostgreSQL preferred, with schema design being a plus.
• Containerisation: Familiarity with containers (Docker/Podman) and development workflows.
• Agile Practices: Comfortable working in 2-week Agile sprints and contributing to the delivery of iterative improvements.
• Test Automation: Strong experience with unit tests and API-level contract tests as part of regular feature delivery.

Nice to Have:

• Cloud Experience: Exposure to Azure or other cloud platforms.
• Integration Skills: Experience with integrating systems, especially with open-source or legacy software.
• Frameworks: Familiarity with Express, Fastify, or similar frameworks.
• Linux/Bash: Competence with Linux command line and bash scripting.
• CI/CD Tools: Experience with GitHub Actions or other CI tools such as CircleCI or TeamCity.
