Job Description

Immediate requirement for a highly skilled Section Engineer with extensive experience in structures to join one of our top clients on a major highways project. This freelance role is perfect for an engineer who has a proven track record in managing complex structural works within large-scale infrastructure projects, especially in the highways sector.

The Role:

As a Section Engineer, your primary responsibility will be to oversee the delivery of structural elements within your assigned section of the project. Your expertise in structures will be essential in ensuring that all works are carried out to the highest standards of safety, quality, and compliance with design specifications.

Key Responsibilities:

·Structural Oversight: Manage and coordinate all structural works within your section, including bridges, culverts, retaining walls, and other key infrastructure.
·Technical Leadership: Provide expert technical guidance and support on structural matters, ensuring all works are executed in accordance with design specifications and industry standards.
·Setting Out & Monitoring: Perform precise setting out for structural components and monitor progress to ensure alignment with the project's program.
·Quality Control: Implement and maintain rigorous quality control procedures to ensure all structural works meet required standards and specifications.
·Health & Safety: Ensure strict adherence to Health & Safety regulations, with particular focus on the unique challenges posed by structural works on highways.
·Coordination & Communication: Liaise with the Site Agent, design team, and subcontractors to ensure seamless coordination and delivery of structural activities.

Who We're Looking For:

To be successful in this role, you should have:

·Relevant Qualifications: HNC, degree level, or equivalent experience in Civil Engineering, with a strong focus on structural engineering.
·Specialized Experience: Demonstrable experience in managing structural works on major highways projects, with a deep understanding of the associated technical and logistical challenges.
·Technical Expertise: Proficient in setting out, monitoring, and managing structural works, with a thorough understanding of construction processes in a highways context.
·Attention to Detail: A keen eye for detail, ensuring all structural activities meet the highest standards of quality and compliance.
·Leadership & Problem-Solving: Strong leadership skills with the ability to proactively identify and resolve issues related to structural works, keeping the project on track.
