Group Financial Controller – No. 1 in Finance – Growing SME business
This exclusive opportunity for a Group Financial Controller offers a pivotal role within a growing SME who are based on the outskirts of Wakefield. With a £17-million turnover, the company is seeking a commercially sharp financial leader to oversee all financial operations across the group.
This role is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious financial professional looking to drive strategic financial leadership in a dynamic environment, with a clear progression route to Finance Director.

Core Responsibilities:
* Financial Compliance: Ensure all regulatory and internal financial standards are met.
* Budgeting & Reporting: Assist with budgets, analyse variances, and encourage cost savings.
* Team Leadership: Manage a team of three finance professionals, promoting continuous improvement.
* Financial Reporting: Prepare P&L statements, balance sheets, management accounts, and forecasts.
* Board Presentations: Present financial data and insights to support strategic decision-making.
* Cash Flow Management: Ensure cash flow stability and monitor daily financial activities.
* Project Analysis: Generate Work In Progress (WIP) and Profit & Loss (P&L) analyses for profitability tracking.
* Accounting Systems: Oversee the company’s financial software systems, including SAGE 50.
* Stakeholder Management: Maintain relationships with accountants, banks, and other key partners.
* Debt Management & Compliance: Oversee debt reporting and ensure timely PAYE, VAT, CIS etc. submissions.
Qualifications & Skills:
* Education: Fully qualified accountant (CIMA, ACCA, FCMA etc.)
* Experience: Minimum of 5 years in a similar financial controller role within manufacturing, construction or related industries
* Technical Skills: Expertise in accounting software and Advanced MS Excel.
* Compliance Knowledge: Strong knowledge of financial regulations, accounting standards, and industry-leading practices
* Leadership & Analytical Abilities: Proven team management and excellent analytical skills.
