Job Description

JOB FUNCTION:
The Construction Manager provides support to preconstruction EMCAPS activities, leads project field execution and provides input into post construction review / handover activities.
  • Prior to field execution, uses construction expertise to provide input into EMCAPS deliverables such as
    • Design review. Reviews the design and construction process and identifies efficiencies in processes and practices.
    • Constructability reviews. Ensures that proposed designs can be built safely, and construction is efficient and cost effective.
    • Value engineering. Provide alternatives that are cost effective and efficient while meeting the
    • project requirements.
    • Contracting strategy. Provide input into strategy based on construction type, risks, location, and experience.
    • Bid document preparation. Based on contracting strategy, provide input and ensure bid documents contain adequate specifications and controls for construction.
    • Contractor vetting / selection. Lead prequalification of contractors based on technical expertise, safety, and field visits.
  • Leads the Project Management Team's field execution including
    • Construction safety leadership. Ensure contractor operates the site in compliance with GREF's safety program and regulatory requirements, provides visible safety leadership in the field and believes that all accidents are preventable and acts accordingly.
    • Field QA / QC. Ensures contractor has a robust QA / QC program with PMT systems in place to verify material and construction quality and quantity.
    • Project schedule. Verifies contractor project schedule and provides early warning on potential schedule slippage and suggestions to mitigate potential slippage.
    • Reviews contractor's processes and procedures to confirm alignment with contract requirements.
    • Develops and executes administrative routines that align with the project goals, objectives and procedures.
    • Identifies and communicates relevant construction issues and progress.
    • Develops project Reporting Templates and systems for project execution teams
    • Ensures appropriate document controls are in place and adhered to.
    • Participate in Project Reviews and audits
  • Post construction, the construction manager will support building handover procedures to client, including commissioning, product warranties and liabilities etc. and any post construction assessments including lessons learned.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS, AND EXPERIENCES:
Expert knowledge of /experience in:
  • History of completing construction safely and meeting schedule / cost expectations
  • Expert of residential and office accommodation, methods, processes, practices, specifications, codes etc.
  • Practices, processes, and expectations with respect to safety, infrastructure, office and residential facilities
  • College / University degree and/or technical diploma
  • 15+ years of Design and Construction experience
  • Expert knowledge of Project Execution Process
  • Expert knowledge and experience of EPC and Design and Build contracts
  • Thorough understanding of Project execution.
  • Overseas experience (working in diverse cultural teams) and remote location experience
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office programs, Lotus Notes, etc
  • Read, write, and speak fluent English, especially as required to function effectively within a project team and to communicate with project management, contractors, and sub-contractors.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop successful working relationships with emphasis on collaboration in an integrated project team environment
