Then keep reading - you've come to the right place.Role DescriptionThe Cell Engineering team within the Technology group at Form is multidisciplinary and focused on delivering qualified battery cell designs that meet operational performance targets, at cost and with high reliability, from controlled processes on high-volume manufacturing lines for Form Energy's utility-scale multi-day energy storage system.The ideal candidate should be experienced in designing complex mechanical assemblies in space constrained, corrosive environments from concept to production. They should also have expertise in designing plastic and metal components across a variety of manufacturing methods including injection molding, extrusion, and stamping. Experience with GD&T and tolerance analyses for electromechanical assembly with electrical interfaces for high-volume manufacturing is also desired. This role will work closely with module and systems-level mechanical engineering teams in addition to collaborating with test, reliability, and manufacturing teams to bring products to market. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of scaling our multi-day energy storage system at Form and contributing to a sustainable future!What you'll do:Lead the design of several critical cell componentsDevelop functional requirements in close collaboration with members of the Cell Engineering and Systems Engineering teamsValidate designs through a combination of analysis (e.g., FEA) and hands-on testingAnalyze component and assembly tolerances and develop cost/performance/reliability tradesCollaborate with the Test and Reliability teams to deliver designs that meet cost, performance, and reliability targetsWork with manufacturing engineers and technical operations to transition designs from the prototype stage to high-volume productionDevelop verification, validation, and reliability test plans to demonstrate designs meet functional and lifetime requirementsEngage in design-for-manufacturing outreach with our supply chain and manufacturing teams to ensure designs are amenable to high volume battery productionWhat you'll bring:Degree in Mechanical Engineering, or related field; Bachelor's with 5+ years, or Master's with 3+ years with industry experienceExperience designing plastic and metal components for implementation in high-volume production assemblies.Demonstrated experience with the design and verification testing of electromechanical systems or fluid systemsDirect experience with high-volume manufacturing, fabrication, and prototyping techniques; experience with tight-tolerance, multi-material component design for harsh environmentsExcellent communicator across a range of engineering and business functionsAbility to thrive in a fast-paced startup environment#LI-Onsite#LI-AB1Humanity is a cornerstone of Form Energy's culture, and we make sure our compensation and benefits reflect that.
