Job Summary - What you will do:
Reporting to the Engineering Manager, the Solutions Architect - Design Engineer will work alongside Enterprise Architects to play a crucial role in designing, implementing, and maintaining cutting-edge solutions on the National Roads Telecommunications Service (NRTS) Infrastructure. Building on the Transformed NRTS2 network you will help visualise and implement Innovation Projects that support the next generation of solutions to be implemented by Telent and National Highways.
The role will involve technical contribution throughout Innovation Project lifecycles, from Proof of Concept and design through to operational implementation. This includes supporting the Scaled Agile for Enterprise (SAfE) approach to Project Lifecycle planning, contributing to design scoping sessions, creating and maintaining documentation to a high standard, supporting internal and customer facing discussions, and providing expertise in the role of trusted advisor to National Highways.
This role is seen as key to facilitating the on-going development of an Enterprise Architecture approach to our Engineering team design work, providing a solid platform to allow innovative solutions that enhance the National Highways Network.
You will liaise with National Highways, as well as other technology focussed teams both internal and external to provide guidance on the technical scope of projects.

- Proven experience in designing and implementing network solutions
- Solid understanding of network protocols, security principles, and compliance requirements
- Previous experience of delivering successful projects within a customer facing organisation
- In depth experience of implementing and supporting Telecommunications Networks including the following considerations:
- Network Architecture and Design
- Proof of Concept Testing
- Service management
- Network management
- Installation and Commissioning
