Job Description

We have a fantastic opening for a Locomotive Technician to join our established team at a busy depot in Longport. This is a rare chance to be part of a dynamic environment and work on a diverse fleet of commercial freight trains.

We're ideally seeking someone with experience in the rail industry. However, if you're transitioning from the Armed Forces, particularly from the REME, or have a background in servicing large HGVs, buses, or trams, this role could be a perfect fit for you. The skills you've gained in these sectors are highly transferable and valued.

Due to increased demand, we need proactive individuals ready to tackle refurbishment, servicing, and exams of our fleet. Your hands-on experience and proactive mindset will be instrumental in keeping our trains running smoothly and efficiently.

The shift pattern for the Locomotive Technician role at Longport:

Week 1: Earlies, Monday - Thursday 06:00-14:30 and Friday 06:00-12:00
Week 2: Lates, Monday - Friday 14:00-10.30pm

The role as a Locomotive Technician.

Carry out maintenance, repair, overhaul, modification and fault finding on locomotives.
Lead engineer for contracts, projects or tasks as necessary to support operational performance.
Part of the Engineering Services On-Call Roster, providing technical assistance over the phone or in the field as required.
Updating SAP system to ensure availability of parts
Inputting of data into the locomotive history tracking system.
Assist other engineers on the team.
Adhere to strict H&S Policy.
Carry audits in line with Company quality management standards and processes.
Work in line with legislation and rail industry requirements. Qualifications & Experience required to be successful in Locomotive Technician’s Role

Engineering Apprenticeship (Mechanical)
Personal Track Safety
Driving license
FLT License (not essential but advantageous)
Crane & Jack Operation experience (not essential but advantageous)
Based at Longport, Stoke on Trent Benefits to you as a Locomotive Technician.

£33,000 Basic Salary
Shift Pattern: Week 1: Earlies, Monday - Thursday 06:00-14:30 and Friday 06:00-12:00, Week 2: Lates, Monday - Friday 14:00-10.30pm
Paid overtime.
33 days Holiday
