Section Manager (Major Structure)

alfour Beatty VINCI is working with a range of organisations to design and build 90km West Midlands stretch of HS2 - Britain’s new high speed railway. Our work is essential to enable HS2 trains to travel between London and Birmingham as well as continue their journey up to Manchester. It’s an incredibly exciting time to join us - we’re at peak construction with work really ramping up on a broad range of assets including bridges, tunnels and viaducts. Plus you’d join 9,000 people across 72 nationalities working on this exciting section of HS2 across the region.

We currently have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Section Manager within the Major Structures team. This role will be based on site in Saltley, Birmingham.

Working as part of our Structures team you will manage a team which include, Site Agent, Sub Agents, Section Engineers, Site Engineers and Surveyors. You will have responsibility for major section of works including RC Piers, viaducts, foundations, retaining walls and river diversions.

Experienced required description:

* Managing targets and monitoring performance of Key Performance Indicators in line with the project objectives

* Participating in the delivery, control and validation of Structures Permanent and Temporary Works Design and its coordination within the design of the Sub-Lot

* Ensuring the technical and contractual requirements are compliant, especially with regards to Health & Safety and Environment

* Conducting site audits and coordinating the implementation of quality assurance and control plans for self-delivery activities, subcontractors and suppliers

* Actively participating and reporting progress in the weekly team leader and project review meetings to review strategic performance on site

* Managing subcontractors and suppliers and advising on commercial aspects / preferred attendances and operational risks

* A formal qualification in Civil Engineering or equivalent work experience
