Founded in 2018, Oceanwings® is a French industrial start-up with headquarters in Paris and a factory in the port area of Blainville-sur-Orne in Caen, which benefits from direct access to the sea. Bringing together more than fifty passionate men and women with diverse expertise, the company has recently equipped the newbuild cargo ship, Canopée,with four of its first 37-metre-high Oceanwings® wing sails.

Job Overview

Oceanwings®is looking for a Mechanical engineer manager, As part of the mechanical design team and in collaboration with Oceanwings’s design engineers, you will design the mechanic structures and parts making up the new OceanWings products.

Main Missions

• Manage the engineering team (service organization, recruitment, training, workload,development...)
• Define and document internal processes and team tools
• Check, define, specify and justify technical choices
• Design, pre-dimension and size parts and systems
• Verify and generate the technical deliverables of his team,ensuring the application of internal processes
• Ensure manufacturing and assembly feasibility
• Ensure communication, follow-up and technical support for suppliers, assemblers and internal teams
• Participate in building the Oceanwings®feedbackand best practicedatabase
• Suggest ways of improving existing products
• Participate in cross-company projects

Profile & Skills required

• Analytical and synthesizing skills
• You have a 5 year degree in mechanical engineering
• You have at least 5 year’s professional experience in industry,including at least 3 years in a similar management position
• Rigor, organization and autonomy
• Curiosity and team spirit, leadership skills
• Knowledge of the marine environment, BE OffshoreOil / Wind valued
• Experience in the Maritime/ Energy / Transport sector
• Knowledge of sailing and composite materials would be appreciated
• Excellent command of modeling/CAD, Autocad and other common design software.
• English: fluency essential to take part in international meetings

Conditions

• Permanent job contract as a manager : collective bargaining agreement for the metallurgy industry.
• Position based in Paris,frequent travel in France and abroad ( Europe initially).
