Job Description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Geotechnical Engineer with a strong background in remediation and earthworks to join a specialist contractor. This role is ideal for individuals with either a contractor or Ground Investigation (GI) consultancy background looking to develop their interpretive, design, and analytical skills. You’ll work on complex commercial, residential, and high-rise building schemes throughout England.

This position provides an excellent chance for career growth, as you will be trained to manage your own projects, ranging from Phase 1 site investigations to delivering technical reports and overseeing earthworks remediation.

Key Responsibilities:

* Project Management: Oversee geotechnical projects from the ground investigation stage through to the preparation of technical reports and invoicing.

* Design & Analysis: Perform interpretive reporting, foundation design, and calculations for ground movement, pile groups, retaining walls, slopes, and tunnel/structure interaction.

* Remediation & Earthworks: Provide expertise in the remediation of embankments, cuttings, and earthworks across civil and commercial infrastructure projects.

* Technical Reporting: Prepare and review geotechnical reports, Phase 1 and Phase 2 environmental assessments, and foundation recommendations.

* Collaboration: Work closely with senior geotechnical engineers and other teams on collaborative projects involving civil and structural engineering.

* Health & Safety: Ensure all work complies with the latest health, safety, and environmental regulations.

* Client Interaction: Liaise with clients, providing technical support and ensuring project specifications are met.

Qualifications & Experience:

* A degree in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, Engineering Geology, Geology, Environmental Sciences, or related discipline.

* MSc in Geotechnical Engineering, Engineering Geology, or Geoscience (preferred).

* Experience: 3-5 years of geotechnical design experience, including slope stability, earthworks, and remediation.

* Proficient in Phase 1 and Phase 2 reports (preferred but not essential).

* Chartered or near-chartered status from an appropriate professional body (ICE or similar).

* Solid understanding of slope stability, remediation of embankments and cuttings, and geotechnical design for civil infrastructure projects.

* Familiarity with civil infrastructure.

* Full UK Driving Licence.

Key Skills:

* Strong understanding of geotechnical engineering principles including foundation design, retaining walls, and earthworks.

* Interpretive reporting and analysis skills.

* Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and deliver within deadlines.

* Excellent communication skills to work effectively with clients and project teams.

* Knowledge of health and safety standards and best practices in construction and engineering.
