About the Client
The Client is a major French Operator active in the energy sector.
About the Role
- Analysis of process control activities within the subsidiaries
- Reconciliation of the subsidiary's process control philosophy with current site conditions
- Recommended for use to reduce process instabilities
- Coordination between the site and the control rooms
- Defining the changes needed for Zero Flaring projects
- Training of subsidiary consolers and site operators to ensure the sustainability of the actions implemented
- Work in close collaboration with a DCS/ICSS system engineer attached to process control missions
Day-to-Day Activities
Phase 1 – Preparation for analysis
- Process data collection, DCS diagram & synoptics
- PI data collection / PI views
- List of all control loops (PID tuning, PV range, Equation type, output range, setpoint range)
- Checking available tags on PI, identifying missing tags
- Review of the process control operating philosophy
- On-site and remote control room identification of process operating conditions
- Priority work on the flaring and gas regulation system
Phase 2 – Analysis
- Identification of process instabilities (versus current philosophy / setting points / control loops)
- Focus (non-exhaustive list)
- First stages of separation (liquid outlets, gases), level and pressure control
- Main torch PVCs (setpoints)
- Compressor Suction Pressure Control & Temperature Controls (Upstream Compressors)
- Export gas and injection
Phase 3 – Implementation for process stability under current conditions
- Preparation of process control adjustments with site and control room operators
- If necessary, initiate modifications to optimize the operation of the installations in accordance with the site's instructions and procedures (with the system engineer)
- Participate in the updating and drafting of operating procedures and instructions
- Implementation of actions on optimized regulation
- On-site and control room monitoring and estimation of potential gains (flaring, production) with process engineers
Phase 4 – Projects Zero Flaring Venting
- Identification of the regulation changes required for the new operating conditions
- Review and drafting of the new process control operating philosophy
- Preparation of the necessary modifications to accommodate new zero flaring projects
- Long-term monitoring of the subsidiary's process control
About You
- Production Engineer or Production Superintendent in Exploration and Production or Refining and Chemicals
- 10+ years' experience in oil and gas projects
- Fluent French and English
- Supervision of on-site production activities, control room production facility management and oil, gas, or LPG process expertise
