Control Systems Lead Engineer (Hydrogen Production)

Locations for this position are:

Germany, Romania or Spain

As a Control Systems Expert, you'll take a lead role in overseeing and enhancing the control and protection systems of our hydrogen production plants and converter systems. Your goal is to continuously improve these systems, finding new ways to implement essential control and protection functions while reducing the engineering effort for each project. You’ll collaborate across multiple engineering disciplines, apply insights gained from plant commissioning, and integrate those experiences back into the control systems, driving digitalization forward. Your Impact

• Contribute as an expert in automation solutions for hydrogen production plants, playing a key role in the development team.
• Design, implement, and test automation solutions independently, developing modular, scalable reference solutions with support from internal and external partners when necessary.
• Assist with the commissioning of hydrogen production plants, offering on-site guidance and support to local teams.
• Provide support to other engineering fields, including electrical design, safety analysis, and HAZOP assessments.
• Conduct training sessions for customers to ensure smooth operation and understanding of the systems.

Your Qualifications

• Master’s degree in electrical or automation engineering or a related field.
• Strong experience in open/closed loop control and protection of converter systems and process plants.
• Expertise in automation and simulation tools (e.g., PCS7, Simatic S7, SIMIT, COMOS).
• Experience in programming safety-related controls, ideally certified as a Functional Safety Engineer.
• Knowledge of distributed control systems, network technology, and cybersecurity.
• Hands-on experience commissioning electrical and process plants.
• Adaptable and self-driven, thriving in a fast-paced, agile start-up environment.
• Fluent in both English and German, with a global mindset and a willingness to travel.
