Job Description
We are offering an exciting opportunity in a National non-profit association. Based in Ottawa, Ontario, we are seeking a VP/Director of Finance to lead our financial operations. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting, as well as managing corporate cash flow and treasury. This is a hands on role managing two staff and is an integral part of the management team, contributing to the strategic direction of our organization.Responsibilities:- Oversee the preparation and communication of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reporting.- Coordinate the development and monitoring of corporate and project budgets.- Oversee cash flow planning to ensure availability of funds and manage Reserve Fund investment and corporate asset management.- Oversee finance department activities ensuring proper maintenance and management of all accounting and administrative systems, functions, and records.- Serve as the key point of contact for external auditors; manage preparation and support of all external financial year-end audits.- Assist other departments with management and implementation of new revenue and donation streams.- Present financial statements to the CEO and Finance & Audit Committee on a regular basis.- Develop tools and systems to provide financial information to the CEO and Finance & Audit Committee and make recommendations.- Oversee AR and AP management.- Oversee payroll and benefit administration.- Manage, review, and maintain all third-party supply and service contracts.- Ensure legal and regulatory compliance regarding all financial functions.- Oversee and implement controls, systems, financial plans, software, and processes to improve the effectiveness of the finance department. - Applicant must have a minimum of 7 years of experience in a finance leadership roleCPA requiredProficiency in Annual Budget planning and executionExperience in Financial Statement Preparation is mandatoryApplicant should be skilled in Board reportingKnowledge of Annual Operating Budget is requiredExpertise in Budgeting and Forecasting is necessaryFamiliarity with Non-profit Accounting is desirableExperience in managing Corporate Treasury is essentialProficiency in Quickbooks Online is a mustApplicant should be skilled in Month-end Financial proceduresExperience in handling Annual External Audit is mandatoryKnowledge of Federal Funding procedures and regulations is required.This is predominately remote role with occasional in -office meetings in central Ottawa. 4 weeks vacation to start and 100$ of benefits paid by the company.
