Job Description

We are offering a long-term contract opportunity for a Sr. Accountant within the retail industry in Richmond Hill, Ontario, Canada. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in maintaining financial records and ensuring that financial transactions are properly recorded. This includes bank reconciliation, general ledger entries, balance sheet reconciliation, and month-end closing activities in addition to the management of accounts receivable and payable.Responsibilities:- Oversee the filing of HST and Sales tax, making use of relevant Canadian experience- Utilize advanced Excel skills, including VBA, for financial data analysis and reporting- Use SQL and Microsoft Dynamics as assets for managing and interpreting data- Oversee the reconciliation of bank statements, general ledger, and balance sheet- Manage journal entries and contribute to month-end close processes- Keep up to date with accounting software, including Dynamics NAV, Microsoft Dynamics CRM, and MS Dynamics 365 Business Central- Ensure all accounting activities align with established laws, regulations, and company policies.- Minimum of three years of experience in a Senior Accountant role or a similar position within the Restaurants & Catering industry.- Profound knowledge of accounting principles and procedures.- Experienced in Account Reconciliation, Balance Sheet Reconciliation, and Bank Reconciliations.- Demonstrated expertise in handling General Ledger and Journal Entries.- Proficient in using Microsoft Excel for data analysis and financial modeling.- Experience with Month End Close procedures.- Familiarity with HST (Harmonized Sales Tax) procedures.- Experience with Dynamics NAV, Microsoft Dynamics CRM, and MS Dynamics 365 Business Central.- Proficient in SQL for managing and organizing data.- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.- Proven ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.- Certification such as Certified Public Accountant (CPA) would be advantageous.- Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive financial information.- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.- Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment.Robert Half is the world's first and largest specialized talent solutions firm that connects highly qualified job seekers to opportunities at great companies.
