Job Description

As the Data Platform Manager at Salomon, you will play a pivotal role in building and maintaining a robust data infrastructure that empowers real-time analytics, business intelligence, and data-driven decision-making across the entire company.

Key Responsibilities:

Lead Salomon Data Platform strategy:
  • Architect, implement, and manage our modern Data Platform, built on a world-class stack including Snowflake (for cloud data warehousing), Airflow (for data pipeline orchestration), dbt (for data transformation), Grafana (for monitoring and observability), and Hightouch (for data activation). You will ensure that our platform can scale with the needs of a growing global business, while maintaining high performance and data availability.

Unlock real-time Data integration:
  • Work closely with every IT system owners to build data-by-design architecture & integration with every systems.
  • Design and implement up to real-time data interfaces, ensuring immediate data availability for analytics and operational needs. This will allow teams to leverage data-driven insights in real-time, a competitive advantage in the retail industry.

Drive Data quality & privacy:
  • Collaborate closely with the Data Governance team to maintain a certified, privacy-safe, trusted central data repository, aligning with business and compliance needs.
  • Implement strict standards for data quality, consistency, and integrity across all systems.

Tracking & tag management:
  • Oversee and optimize tracking systems (Piano Analytics, Google Tag Manager, server-side analytics tracking) and ensure compliance with privacy regulations through integration with tools like CMP (One Trust).

Enable business value:
  • Work closely with the Data Value Team (BI, Insights, Science) to ensure the Data Platform enables the development of valuable data products and accelerates time-to-insight for business leaders.
  • Build and enhance self-service capabilities across the organization, empowering business units to perform their own analyses with minimal reliance on the Data & Analytics team. Ensure the platform supports quick, reliable access to clean, well-modeled data.

Team leadership & collaboration fostering:
  • Manage and mentor a team of Data experts (Tracking, Architect, Engineers, Analytics Engineers), driving a culture of excellence and continuous learning. Your leadership will ensure the platform delivers on both operational and strategic needs.
  • Work closely with the Data Value Team, IT System owners, and business teams to align platform capabilities with strategic goals, enabling smooth integration and the democratization of data across departments.

Qualifications

Experience:
  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in data environment, with a proven track record of managing large-scale data infrastructure projects.
  • At least 3 years in a leadership or managerial role, with experience in guiding a team through complex data challenges.

Technical expertise:
  • Expertise in building and managing data platforms using Snowflake, Airflow, dbt.
  • Advanced knowledge of real-time data pipelines, cloud infrastructure, and data architecture design.
  • Strong understanding of data governance frameworks and the ability to implement data quality standards at scale.

Soft skills:
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to set clear objectives, manage performance, and foster continuous learning.
  • Excellent communication skills for collaborating with technical and business stakeholders, and for simplifying complex technical topics.
  • Problem-solving and project management skills to navigate the challenges of scaling a data platform.

Preferred qualifications:
  • Snowflake certification would be highly valued
  • Experience with implementing CI/CD processes for Data pipelines & orchestration tools
  • Experience with real-time data streaming tools to support real-time analytics and event-driven architectures.
