About the Role


Petroplan is seeking an experienced Procurement and Contracts Director to support one of our key clients in the renewable energy sector, focused on offshore wind projects. This fast-growing and dynamic company is leading the way in developing innovative energy solutions worldwide. Based in the UK, you will play a crucial role in overseeing procurement strategies and contract management for a large-scale interconnector project. Reporting to the Regional Head of Procurement for Europe and the Project CEO, you will be integral in ensuring the successful delivery of this complex project.

Key Responsibilities

  • Procurement Leadership: Lead and manage procurement activities across all project packages, ensuring alignment with timelines and strategic goals.
  • Team Management: Oversee a team of procurement managers, contract specialists, and legal advisors, fostering a high-performance environment.
  • Supplier Relations: Establish and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers, optimizing value and minimizing risks.
  • Contract Management: Develop and implement contract strategies, ensuring compliance with project objectives and requirements.
  • Commercial Oversight: Lead commercial negotiations for large capital expenditure (CAPEX) contracts and manage the entire contract lifecycle.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with internal and external stakeholders across technical, legal, and commercial functions to ensure seamless project delivery.
  • Strategic Support: Contribute to the broader procurement portfolio by identifying risks and opportunities, sharing knowledge, and promoting consistency across projects.
  • Decision Making: Deliver high-quality recommendations and presentations to project decision-makers and steering committees.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all procurement processes adhere to local and international regulations, supporting project financing and successful delivery.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Educational Background: Degree in business administration, commercial law, engineering, or an equivalent qualification.
  • Leadership Skills: Strong leadership abilities, with experience managing teams in a multidisciplinary project environment.
  • Project Experience: Demonstrated success in managing procurement for large, complex projects; experience in offshore wind or renewable energy is highly advantageous.
  • Commercial Acumen: Solid understanding of commercial negotiations, risk management, and contract strategy in large-scale projects.
  • Collaborative Approach: Proven ability to work effectively with diverse internal and external teams, fostering collaboration and shared objectives.
  • Procurement Expertise: Deep knowledge of procurement principles and best practices, with the ability to translate strategy into action.
  • Problem-Solving Skills: Strategic thinker with excellent problem-solving abilities, capable of managing challenges in high-pressure environments.
