Job Description
Senior Design Engineer Overview Axis Technology and Development Ltd. have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Design Engineer to join our team based in Gilford, Northern Ireland on a full-time permanent basis. Axis is a family run business and an exciting company to work for with R&D at its forefront. The successful candidate will have at least 5 years post graduate experience ideally working in precision Engineering within the food, agricultural or material handling industry. You will be a part of the Design Team within Axis, who are responsible for the design, manufacture and installation of our Mushroom harvesting equipment. This role will involve minimal travel and will be mostly based in Gilford. Position Responsibilities The successful candidate will be responsible for producing detailed designs and drawings using SolidWorks software. Co-ordinate with and assist Senior Designers and Technicians to manage projects and focus on reducing cost and cycle time on current plant equipment Use of 3D and 2D software including Solidworks and Autocad Create BOM's, layouts and fabrication drawings for projects Manage and liaise with customers and suppliers on design specifics/aesthetics & plant requirements Use in house Axis systems from creation of 3D models and DXF files for ordering and creation of assemblies. Participate in Research and Development projects, in the office or workshop Support sales through, sales drawings, preliminary technical specifications, site visits and technical advice on the products/process development. Participate in continuous improvement activities to enhance product quality, profitability and customer satisfaction Assist Management to develop an accurate estimate of time, resource and materials Ensure effective communication is maintained with clients, suppliers and the team Work with Technicians to streamline the assembly of machines On site work during the commissioning of systems on customer sites Skills and Behavioural Expectation Working knowledge of stainless steel and structures. Precision engineering experience Communicates effectively and articulately at all levels, internally and externally. Demonstrates positive attitude and flexibility in work approach. Shows awareness of, and works well to deadlines Able to work on their own initiative and as part of the team Trouble shooting and problem-solving skills Shows commitment to self-improvement, education and development. An awareness of general Health and Safety rules Qualifications and Experience: Essential A degree in Mechanical Engineering At least 5 Years post graduate Design Experience in precision engineering environment Computer literate with SolidWorks experience, analysis programmes and Microsoft suite. Experience in auditing and measuring on site and designing bespoke engineering systems Have good analytical skills with high level of attention to detail Have the ability to work on own initiative and also in a team environment Willing to travel Overtime as required to meet project deadlines Desirable Stress analysis experience Hands on ability Quality Control experience Hours of work Monday to Thursday 8am 5pm Friday 8am 1pm Hours / days may vary when on site installation, overtime rates apply.
