Job Description
We're currently on the look out for a Head of Electrical Engineering for a global owner.
This is a key leadership role where you will shape and drive the electrical design strategy for hyperscale data centers globally. Your expertise will ensure that high-quality, safe, and reliable infrastructure is delivered, supporting the future of digital growth.
In this role, you will be responsible for developing electrical systems, including site power distribution, sub-stations, and backup power solutions. Your technical expertise will ensure all projects meet industry standards, regulations, and customer requirements while driving improvements in efficiency and sustainability.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the design and development of electrical systems for UK hyperscale data centers, including sub-stations, power distribution, and backup systems.
- Develop and maintain the electrical design roadmap, incorporating emerging technologies to meet future customer needs and business goals.
- Provide technical leadership and oversight for global equipment vendor selection and consultant teams.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to localize electrical design strategies across different regions.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards, codes, and regulations while maintaining the highest levels of safety.
- Support site selection and provide technical reviews for utility power distribution with providers.
- Review customer proposals, provide technical documentation, and interface directly with customers to understand their needs and develop tailored solutions.
Skills & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
- Minimum 10 years’ experience in electrical design/engineering with a focus on data centers.
- Strong knowledge of utility sub-stations (HV), power distribution systems (MV & LV), UPS, and backup power systems.
- Proven experience with hyperscale and high-density data centers, including modular construction methods.
- Thorough understanding of industry standards, electrical safety protocols, and SCCAF studies.
- Strong leadership, communication, and collaboration skills in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
- Demonstrated ability to manage complex projects, balance competing priorities, and deliver solutions that align with broader business objectives.
