Job Description
A tier-one civil engineering contractor is seeking to appoint an Estimator based in East Sussex
Reporting to the Pre-Contracts Director the Estimator will be tasked with project tender packages for existing and new clients within the water and marine sectors.
This role could appeal to an Estimator at the early stages of their career and perhaps could suit an Estimator looking to move from construction to the civil engineering sector.
This is an exciting time to join the business as they have recently been awarded a number of significant new contracts and are expanding and workforce and operations across the South East.
This role is being offered on a hybrid working basis.
The Role
The Estimator's main responsibilities will include:
-Interpreting the project brief and producing a pricing schedule capturing all scope required
-Researching the cost of items such as materials, transport, labour and equipment
-Conducting site visits with the supply chain as required in order to obtain quotes
-Obtaining and assessing quotes from suppliers and contractors within a specified time frame
-Liaising with the project controls team to build a tender programme for the works to ensure adequate project preliminaries are applied
-Assessing the risk levels associated with the project and ensuring adequate risk is applied to price and programme
-Preparing and presenting tender quotations internally for review and approval
-Preparing and presenting tender quotations to the client.
-Assisting with bids for new contracts/frameworks
-Assisting with handover to the project delivery team and supporting the activities of buyers where required
-Working collaboratively with all other departments and supporting senior managers within the business
-Carry out any other duties appropriate to this post

Experience Required
- Ability to make decisions and demonstrate accountability and integrity

- Ability to deliver required results while working in a high-pressure environment
- 4- 5 years experience in a similar role
- Essential Qualifications
- Competent in using Microsoft Word & Excel
- Competent in using Microsoft project
