Job Description

Based in Northern Ireland, our client is a leading manufacturer of innovative and highest-quality solutions and products for global markets. Due to planned further growth it now seeks to appoint a COO to lead the operational function and add significant value to the Senior Executive Team. This is a primary leadership role and will be instrumental to our client achieving its ambitions as a renowned world leader and to ensure the company evolves as a best-in-class company, resilient and sustainable to meet future market conditions. The COO will assume responsibility for the overall day-to-day operational management, with early emphasis on evaluation of the business operations, systems and team development. Key responsibilities of the role will include: Providing strong and decisive leadership to the company as well as accountability for the input and delivery of strategic objectives. Providing comprehensive and transparent reporting to the Board. Providing input and leadership on decision making issues affecting the company in areas such as new business services, acquisitions, and partnerships. Extracting value from the ever-evolving business metrics as well as driving commercial improvement in conjunction with the Financial Director and wider Team. Developing and maintaining a management and staff structure appropriate to a highly efficient company, that uses innovative processes and technology, driving automation, reduced overhead and providing a world class experience, as a partner of choice. Preparing and presenting strategic annual plans to the Board of Directors and ensuring that these are formally updated on a quarterly basis, or as necessary, to take account of significant changes to the business or the sectors in which it operates. Continually evaluating the company's operational structures to plan for continuous improvements and increased operating efficiency. Providing strategic input and leadership on decision making issues, specifically relating to the evaluation of potential new services, acquisitions, and partnerships. Ensuring the consistent operation in a cost-effective manner and proposing an annual budget and cost framework to the Board of Directors to cover its operations. Implementing measures to include identifying third party support, to ensure the business operates in full compliance with all legal and regulatory requirements in the jurisdictions in which it operates. Ensuring overall operational capability to meet planned and stretched execution of projects. Promoting a culture that reflects the companys core values. The successful candidate will have at least 15 years recent management experience within a construction, manufacturing or related environment, with at least 5 years at Director level, and be able to demonstrate: A track record of success leading efficient and effective operations and building high-performance teams. Experience of adding significant value to an Executive Team. Excellent leadership and communication skills at all levels. Both strategic thinking and hands-on operational management capabilities. Strategic planning success improving productivity, quality, and efficiency of supply chains. Strong analytical skills, working with ERP systems, and able to interpret data. A thorough understanding of business functions across operations, HR, marketing and finance. It would be desirable if the candidate had previous C-Suite experience.
