Job Description
Our client is a financial services organisation committed to managing a significant portfolio of pension funds for a specialised group of employees across numerous clients, with the primary goal of ensuring that contributions are wisely invested and managed, providing secure and reliable benefits upon retirement. It is pivotal in ensure financial security for thousands of members through prudent management of the pension funds. It now seeks to appoint a Chief Pensions Officer to manage and oversee all pension related activities and ensure their effective delivery including member service delivery, technical advice and support, legal, and stakeholder engagement. Key responsibilities of the role are centred on: Senior management responsibility for ensuring a high standard of customer service is provided and compliant with policy and regulatory requirements to scheme members, pensioners and employers. Leading the technical advice and support service to all stakeholders. Developing and maintaining an effective, compliant, understandable and accessible communication strategy. Overseeing all legal aspects to pension provision including consultations, advice, defence and regulation amendments. Implementing the risk management framework and maintaining an effective system of internal control. Leading a team of senior direct reports and developing collaborative relationships with other managers, supervisors and staff. Formulating corporate policies, developing and delivering the corporate plan, and promoting the corporate values as a member of the SMT. The successful candidate will: Have a level 6 qualification and three years practical and demonstrable experience of working in a UK public or private sector pension environment or 4 years practical and demonstrable experience working in one or more of financial services, legal or government policy. Three years experience of successfully leading teams and a customer focused service, meeting predefined performance standards. Have experience of working in a complex, technical environment with responsibility for the interpretation and application of legislation and compliance. Have knowledge and experience of implementing and maintaining best practice risk management frameworks. Be highly numerate with strong IT skills and be able to demonstrate excellent analytical, decision making, communication, administration and organisation skills. Demonstrate a track record of successful team leadership and team working. It is preferable that the successful candidate would also have membership of a professional association, have knowledge and experience of public and private pension schemes, have a good working knowledge of the legal and regulatory framework governing pension administration, HMRC requirements, social security and other relevant legislation.
