Job Description
About us:
At Helio Display Materials, we're crafting the fundamental materials that will shape the future of displays. Using the power of perovskites, these enabling materials facilitate the creation of displays that are not only brighter and more vibrant but also operate with remarkably low power consumption. Our team is dedicated to pioneering the future of colour. As we accelerate, we are looking for talented individuals to join us on the next phase of our journey.
About the Role:
We are seeking a highly motivated and innovative Scientist to join our Core materials team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the development and surface functionalisation techniques, optimisation of core-shell post-treatment processes, and ligand exchange methodologies. This position will play a critical role in the formulation and functionalisation of novel materials to achieve specific performance characteristics.
Our Values:
- Knowledge
- Driven
- Unity
Location
Based in our custom built lab and office, 10 minutes from central Oxford.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and optimise colloidal chemistry process for material coating, stabilisation, and modification.
- Tailor post-treatment protocols to control porosity, mechanical strength, and chemical stability of core- shell derived materials.
- Design and implement strategies for surface functionalisation of nanocrystals with inorganic coatings.
- Modify surface chemistry to achieve desired properties such as photoluminescence efficiency, light and thermal stability and colloidal stability.
- Develop and perform ligand exchange protocols to tune the surface chemistry of nanomaterials, particularly for colloidal stability, solubility, and reactivity.
- Investigate interactions between various ligands and nanomaterial surfaces to enhance performance.
- Characterise and analyse the structural, optical, and chemical properties of materials & ligand exchange, using a variety of Analytical techniques.
- Analyse experimental data, generate technical reports, and present findings to key stakeholders.
- Stay current with literature and advancements in the fields of colloidal chemistry, surface science, and nanomaterial engineering.
- Ability to work independently and provide ideas and solutions.
