Job Description

The DevOps Engineer (Level 1) will support the design, implementation, and maintenance of infrastructure that facilitates smooth and efficient software development, deployment, and operations. This role involves working closely with development teams to manage automated pipelines, ensure system reliability, and enhance security practices. The ideal candidate has foundational knowledge of cloud platforms like Microsoft Azure, automation tools, and is eager to learn and grow in the DevOps field, with a focus on cybersecurity and compliance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Automate Deployments & Infrastructure Management: Support the automation of application deployments and infrastructure scaling in Microsoft Azure to ensure efficient operations and smooth, secure releases.
  • CI/CD Pipeline Support: Implement and maintain CI/CD pipelines using tools like SonarQube for code quality analysis, Synopsys for security scanning, and BlazeMeter for performance testing, with a focus on security throughout the development lifecycle.
  • Monitoring & Performance Management: Use tools like New Relic to monitor system performance, ensure service availability, and implement effective logging for diagnosing and troubleshooting issues, while prioritizing system security.
  • Security & Compliance: Assist in maintaining and enhancing security practices by integrating tools like Qualys for vulnerability scanning and ensure adherence to compliance frameworks such as NIST and SOC2 Type 2.
  • Collaboration & Communication: Work closely with development teams to optimize the integration of databases (e.g., MongoDB, Redis, Postgres) and API management tools like MuleSoft, ensuring security best practices are followed across systems.
  • Feature Flagging & Access Control: Support feature management through LaunchDarkly and assist in integrating authentication systems like Okta or Auth0 to ensure secure user access and management.
  • Documentation & Knowledge Sharing: Maintain clear and detailed documentation of infrastructure configurations, processes, and tools, ensuring easy access for cross-team collaboration and compliance audits.


Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
  • Experience: 1-2 years of experience in DevOps, system administration, or software development, with exposure to security practices.
  • Technical Skills:
  • Experience with Microsoft Azure and cloud security best practices.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and tools like Azure DevOps, SonarQube, Synopsys, and BlazeMeter.
  • Basic understanding of monitoring tools like New Relic and security scanning tools like Qualys.
  • Familiarity with databases such as MongoDB, Redis, and Postgres.
  • Exposure to API management tools like MuleSoft and feature flagging platforms like LaunchDarkly.
  • Knowledge of authentication frameworks (Okta, Auth0) for secure access control and user management.
  • Compliance: Understanding of security frameworks and adherence to standards like NIST and SOC2 Type 2.
  • Soft Skills: Strong problem-solving abilities, eagerness to learn new technologies, and excellent collaboration skills with both technical and non-technical teams.


Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with serverless architecture and containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Azure Functions).
  • Strong knowledge of DevOps security best practices, particularly in cloud environments.
  • Familiarity with support platforms like Zendesk for ticketing and issue tracking.
  • Experience with infrastructure-as-code (IaC) tools (e.g., Terraform, Ansible) to automate and secure cloud infrastructure.
  • Exposure to performance monitoring and optimization in cloud-hosted applications.
  • Play a critical role in ensuring secure and reliable systems that meet industry compliance standards.
