Mechanical Estimator - Yorkshire
£45,000 - £55,000 basic, bonus, pool car for site visits and benefits
Client, Job Role, and expectations
With 16+ years’ experience within the industry, our client has developed an enviable reputation as a leading Mechanical and Electrical services provider primarily within 3 key areas but not limited to, industrial, education, and commercial. Although they operate UK wide the vast majority of their work is conducted on projects in Yorkshire where their HQ is in the Wakefield area.
As projects increase in complexity and constraints become tighter, the need to provide best value through technology has never been more challenging. They set a new standard for the integration of services and information, ultimately achieving seamless approach to the delivery of every project they undertake.
Key Accountabilities include:
* Working on multiple estimates/construction contracts at the same time
* Prepare design/build budget estimates and value engineering estimates
* Solicit subcontractor bids/vendor quotations
* Ensure projects are completed within time frame and budget
* Create estimating spreadsheets and detailed proposals
* Assist with determining scope through pre-construction meetings
* Analyse job cost estimating data from reports
* Mentor and support colleagues, sharing knowledge and best practices
* Liaise with clients to understand their needs and provide technical advice where necessary
* Collaborate with project managers and engineers to ensure estimates are realistic and achievable
To be successful in this role, you will need to be self-motivated, creative, a team player, good communicator and able to clearly articulate bespoke solutions to key stakeholders both internally and externally. Strong written and verbal communication skills, along with the commercial acumen to understand the needs of customers and the needs of their client are also essential, as is the ability and desire to absorb information.
The successful candidate will ideally have relevant qualifications within Mechanical installations, ideally chartered or working towards chartership and experience using relevant software within engineering applications or be able to demonstrate extensive experience within the field and estimation. An engineering install background in pipework would also be advantageous. The ideal candidate will be in a commutable distance from the Head Office.
Experience/Qualifications
* Proven ability to liaise and supervise Engineers to support Project Managers and other team members
* Ideally, a relevant qualification within Mechanical Engineering or time served
* Pipework / Pipe fitting experience/background
* Mechanical – Commercially aware of Heating, Ventilation & Air Conditioning, Domestic Hot and Cold-Water Services, Above Ground Foul Drainage, Utilities, Renewables, Air Source, Plant rooms
* Honest, ethical with the desire to be part of a growing organisation
* An excellent communicator and comfortable working independently
* Experienced and skilled in the key areas of prospecting, presentation, and client relationship management
* Attention to detail and accuracy as well as fully IT literate (Outlook, Word, Excel)
Package / Remuneration:
The remuneration package offered at this stage is subject to the experience of the candidate, but will likely include the following:
Basic Salary: Between £45,000 - £55,000
Additional: Bonus, Pension, laptop
