Job Description
Our client is a global leader in the delivery of offshore projects to the energy industry.
They are now looking for a Subsea Connection Engineer to join their team in the London Global Project Centre, ideally on permanent basis. Contract considered.
The opportunity
You will be joining a growing Piping, Valves and Connector Discipline within the Global Projects Centre (GPC) - Sutton, London. Reporting to the Valves and Connector lead, you will have responsibility for all Subsea connector related packages of work from initial pre feed engineering analysis to project execution. You will plan your workload, coordinating the technical expertise required to ensure effective delivery of high-quality engineering to meet commercial and technical needs. You are expected to improve the specific discipline work processes and be a technical governance for the Discipline.
What will you be doing?
The Subsea connector engineer provides specialist skills, integrity and knowledge in key areas of discipline engineering, including design codes, legislative requirements and current good engineering practice. Understands clients' needs; identifies and addresses design parameters and problems; develops and implements solutions. Compliance with project plans, relevant engineering standards and contractual obligations is required. The connector engineer will work as part of a team but may have responsibility for discrete work packages. All personnel are expected to contribute to creating a culture of ethics, integrity and contribute a positive HSEQ culture within the company
Responsible for day-to-day management of Connector Scopes to ensure effective delivery of Projects & Tenders against baseline requirements.
Review client specifications and deliver technical scope of work ensuring both client, international standards and company requirements are accommodated.
Responsible for technical bid evaluations, delivering feedback to procurement.
supporting other engineering disciplines within the company.
Work as part of the project team, supporting the Lead Engineer in performing engineering for effective project delivery.
Organise and structure work assignments effectively scope which is subject to formal issuance.
Identify project opportunities, raising them to the required personnel.
Ensures full traceability of the technical development of the assigned scope throughout the life of the project.
Ensure engineering performed is effective and quality oriented.
Actively engage in knowledge sharing, capture of Lessons Learned and application of Engineering Standards.
Ensure all relevant safety objectives are adhered to.
Train and mentor other engineers in the discipline specifically junior engineers.
Development of engineering solutions in line with defined targets.
Shares knowledge providing guidance and solutions to other engineers in the discipline.
Promote personal CPD (Continued Professional Development) through regular engagement with the professional engineering community.
Work in collaboration with our alliance partners where appropriate.
Maintain communication with the Structures and Piping discipline engineering manager, in combination with project leads where appropriate.
Under limited supervision, independently evaluates, organises and focuses on task management which is normally subject to internal checking and approval.Experience required for this role
You would ideally have an Engineering degree (BEng), or equivalent, from a recognised institute in; Mechanical, Civil, Aeronautical, Automotive or Naval Architecture along with the following requirements:
Proven experience in a similar role providing Connector expertise.
Comprehensive knowledge of Solid Mechanics and Strength of Materials.
Good knowledge of code and standards such as API, DNVGL, ISO especially DVNGL-RP-C208.
Passion for creating innovative, high-quality products.
Knowledge of subsea structure such as ILT, PLET , Manifold , foundation ( integrated and pre-installed mudmat) and suction pile is viewed as valuable.
Familiarity with commercial practices is beneficial for this job
