The role
The Pricing & Analytics Manager is responsible for overseeing the management of pricing and analytics functions within the EMEA region. The role supports the Senior Manager of Pricing (EMEA) and Director (EMEA) in driving firm strategy, policing commercial agreements, managing the junior members of the team, and assisting in developing the Client Value function within the region.
The role holder will support the Firm's leadership, reinforcing the value of high-quality, managed pricing and legal project management programmes and will help partners and other key fee-earners to adopt improved pricing and legal project management practices.
The role will also be required to plan and implement robust, strategic, consistent and creative programmes that will engage Reed Smith's audiences, create buy-in and support change; all of which have the goal of improving firm profitability.
Your responsibilities
- Creating innovative pricing models and making recommendations for the most appropriate choices on panel pitches and individual matters
- Provide strategic and tactical pricing advice and services to help develop the pricing and scope of services of alternative fee arrangements, including fee modifiers in the forms of penalties, reductions, bonuses and premiums
- Work with the Legal Project Management team to design and implement methodologies to ensure AFA (alternative fee arrangements) matters meet their fixed or budgeted cost and to monitor the efficiency of the work done on those projects
- Assessing current firm pricing and matter management capabilities and writing proposals for projects that can improve firm efficiency and output
- Attending client meetings to discuss Pricing and Value Add offerings
- Presenting to partners and other fee-earners throughout EMEA region to raise awareness of function and capabilities
- Assisting Senior Manager of Pricing (EMEA) in managing team analysts to ensure all work is delegated appropriately and completed to satisfactory standard
- Assisting in delivering partner training programmes when required for all Client Value and Pricing initiatives
- Reviewing client requests for regular Management Information. This will involve working closely with BD, Finance and other Business Services functions to ensure that they provide information in a seamless and professional fashion
Your key skills and experience
- Bachelor degree in Business, Finance, Mathematics, Economics or equivalent working experience, is preferred
- Excellent numeracy and analytical skills
- Ability to influence key senior decision makers
- Ability to create and execute complex and commercially valid fee arrangements
- Excellent IT skills with a particular focus on Excel - intermediate or advanced is preferred
- Excellent level of attention to detail
- Strong level of oral and written communication skills
- Strong focus on service delivery
- Ability to manage multiple initiatives and projects simultaneously and be responsive to changing priorities
- Highly motivated with ability to work independently - using initiative
- Previous experience of working in a law firm is highly advantageous, alternatively professional services
- Knowledge of financial and revenue billing systems a plus
