VP/Director of Investments

Key purpose of role

Lead the origination and execution of investments and divestments, drive ISTARI business strategy process and contribute to business plan. Work closely with portfolio companies to support management teams with value creation plans with a focus on M&A.

Key accountabilities

- Lead the entire end to end transaction process from origination to due diligence and execution for investments, divestments and portfolio company M&A as necessary and relevant

- Prepare and present investment/divestment approvals to ISTARI’s board and investment committee

- Review financial models, due diligence materials, legal documents and front negotiations for transactions

- Develop a deep understanding of the financial performance of ISTARI portfolio companies by owning, maintaining and updating the respective financial models, analysing key drivers of performance, tracking performance vs plan and surfacing key issues to ISTARI management

- Work with Temasek’s portfolio monitoring team, as relevant, to ensure Temasek is updated on ISTARI and ISTARI portfolio company performance

Candidate profile

Ideal candidate background and experience:

- Minimum of 10 years work experience, with at least 6 years spent at a top-tier Investment Bank and/or Private Equity firm, prior strategy consulting experience is highly desirable

- Significant experience in leading the execution of transactions, including due diligence, valuation, deal negotiations and progressing investments with relevant approval committees

- Strong technical expertise in valuation/finance/accounting fundamentals

- Ability to lead a team and willingness to be hands-on

- Ability to build strong relationships with portfolio company management teams, in the broader cyber security community, Temasek (ISTARI's primary shareholder) internally at ISTARI

- Experience in the VC and/or cyber/software space would be preferred

- Previous experience in Corporate Development or Venture arm of a tech enterprise is a plus
