The Opportunity:
Finatal is partnering with a fast-growing, Private Equity-backed Commercial Maintenance and Business Services organisation, founded just 12 months ago and already on an ambitious Buy & Build journey. With a £30 million turnover and 15% EBITDA, the business has successfully completed several acquisitions over the last year and have 2-3 more lined up for 2024. The goal is to acquire 10+ businesses in the next 12 months, scaling rapidly across the UK with a planned exit in 2-3 years. This is an exceptional opportunity to join a high-growth company in a pivotal role as we accelerate our expansion.
We are seeking a highly motivated and commercially driven Financial Controller to lead our finance function during this exciting growth phase. Reporting directly to a dynamic and experienced Private Equity CFO, you will take full ownership of the financial controls and reporting environment. This role will have a key focus on reporting, controllership, and leading post-deal integration into the group, as well as ensuring the finance function is brought in-house within the next 12-18 months (currently leveraging Xero and Excel-based systems).
The Role:
You will have significant exposure to the Private Equity board, meeting with them as part of the interview process and working closely with them as the business grows. This is a fantastic opportunity for a finance professional looking to progress to Finance Director, as you will gain hands-on experience in all aspects of a rapidly scaling PE-backed business.
- Take full ownership of the financial controls, reporting, and compliance environment, ensuring robust systems and processes are in place as we scale.
- Oversee financial operations, including budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, and monthly management accounts working closely with the Head of FP&A.
- Lead post-acquisition integration, ensuring new businesses are seamlessly integrated into the group structure.
- Provide strategic financial input and analysis to support M&A activities, including due diligence and post-deal integration
- Work closely with the CFO and Private Equity board to deliver financial KPIs and support the company’s growth strategy.
- Lead the finance function in-house within the next 12-18 months, developing efficient processes and utilizing Xero and Excel-heavy systems in the interim.
- Partner with senior leadership and non-finance stakeholders to drive commercial outcomes and improve financial processes.
The Requirements:
- Fully qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA) with a strong technical background, ideally gained through practice/audit.
- Proven experience as a Financial Controller or Finance Manager in a high-growth, PE-backed, or scale-up environment.
- Demonstrated experience in M&A, including post-deal integration.
- Strong leadership skills with a hands-on approach to driving improvements in financial controls and processes.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to partner with senior finance and non-finance stakeholders.
- Commercially driven, with a strong ability to deliver actionable insights and drive business performance.
- Highly motivated, self-starter, with a clear trajectory towards becoming a Finance Director.
- Experience working in both start-up/scale-up environments and larger businesses, understanding best practices in financial controls, processes, and systems.
What We Offer:
- Competitive salary, bonus, and benefits package.
- The opportunity to work alongside an experienced Private Equity CFO and gain significant exposure to the PE board.
- A key leadership role in a fast-growing, PE-backed business with a clear exit strategy.
- Career development and progression towards Finance Director, with the chance to make a significant impact on the business.
- A dynamic, high-growth environment where you’ll be instrumental in driving the company’s success.
