Job Description

Job Title: Commercial Underwriter Position Summary: The Commercial Underwriter is responsible for assessing and analyzing risk factors associated with commercial loan applications and determining the creditworthiness of potential clients. This role requires a thorough understanding of financial statements, industry trends, and market conditions to make informed decisions on loan approvals or denials. The Commercial Underwriter must also have strong communication and interpersonal skills to work closely with clients, loan officers, and other departments within the organization. Key Responsibilities: 1. Review and evaluate commercial loan applications, financial statements, credit reports, and other relevant documentation to assess risk factors. 2. Conduct in-depth analysis of potential clients financial stability, repayment ability, and industry competitiveness. 3. Calculate debt service coverage ratios, loan-to-value ratios, and other financial metrics to determine loan eligibility and pricing. 4. Communicate findings and recommendations to loan officers and management team for decision-making. 5. Collaborate with clients and loan officers to gather additional information or clarification on loan applications. 6. Stay current on market trends, industry regulations, and economic conditions that may impact loan decisions. 7. Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements. 8. Provide exceptional customer service and build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders. Qualifications: 1. Bachelors degree in finance, business administration, or related field. 2. Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in commercial underwriting or related financial analysis roles. 3. Strong analytical skills with attention to detail and ability to interpret complex financial data. 4. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. 5. Knowledge of commercial lending practices, regulations, and risk management. 6. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and financial analysis software. The Commercial Underwriter plays a critical role in the success of the organization by making sound decisions on commercial loan applications and managing risk effectively. This position requires a proactive and analytical mindset, along with strong communication and relationship-building skills to excel in a fast-paced and dynamic work environment.
