An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Commercial Lawyer to join a Top 20 international firm. This role is positioned within the firm's Governance and Strategic Growth team, offering senior-level commercial contracting support and involvement in strategic commercial activities.
Purpose of the Role
The Senior Commercial Lawyer will provide crucial support across a range of commercial projects, from the development of new products and services to negotiating complex client-facing agreements. This includes working closely with legal teams on bespoke deals and contracts that involve collaboration with third parties or delivery of legal services in innovative ways. The role is central to supporting the firm’s business transformation and growth, helping shape the firm’s commercial approach and supporting key business units.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide expert commercial contracting support for strategic projects and the development of new client-facing products and services.
- Draft, review, and negotiate commercial contracts with third parties, such as collaboration agreements, outsourcing arrangements, and agency contracts.
- Develop and maintain standard agreements and templates for use across various departments and teams.
- Support complex client solutions by assisting with the negotiation of commercial schedules and agreements for Practice Group or Advanced Delivery Team-led deals.
- Work with third-party service providers and partners, ensuring all contracts comply with global risk policies.
- Provide guidance and training on legal developments and contract practices.
- Collaborate on risk management plans for complex deals and contribute to the development of firm-wide risk policies.
- Take ownership of commercial legal support for specific initiatives within the firm’s adjacent professional services and solutions teams.
- Stay informed on relevant legal and regulatory developments, ensuring the firm’s commercial contracts reflect these changes.
Key Skills and Experience
- 7 years’ PQE, with significant experience in a senior in-house legal role.
- Strong expertise in drafting and negotiating a wide range of commercial contracts, including collaboration, outsourcing, and agency agreements.
- Knowledge of technology and AI-related contracts, including licensing, SaaS, PaaS, data protection, and intellectual property issues.
- Excellent commercial awareness, with the ability to make sound judgments on contract issues and risk management.
- Proven ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
