A premier manufacturer in the off-road 4x4 overlanding industry, is expanding Were looking for you to join our Design department in Cape Town. If you have experience in SolidWorks, AutoCAD, and the full design-to-production process, this is your opportunity to contribute to our cutting-edge projects. About the Role: We're searching for people who can manage the entire product lifecyclefrom detailed design to setting up and operating CNC and laser cutting machines, right through to quality control. The ideal candidate will report to the Head Mechanical Design Engineer and be hands-on with programming, technical drawings, and overseeing manufacturing. Key Responsibilities: Programming, nesting, and operating CNC and laser cutting machinery for precision and efficiency. Developing detailed 3D models and technical drawings for motorhome assemblies, components, and systems. Managing designs from concept through to production, ensuring high standards of quality control. Conducting quality checks on CNC and laser-cut parts to maintain production excellence. Handling project management tasks and troubleshooting any technical issues. Creating flat patterns for production and preparing designs for mass manufacture. Collaborating closely with the Engineering and Production teams to provide accurate data and drawings. Managing production drawings and ensuring all parts are designed for efficient, large-scale manufacturing. Skills and Competencies: Expertise in SolidWorks and AutoCAD, with a deep understanding of technical drawing and CNC programming. Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to think on your feet and work under pressure. Deadline-oriented and detail-focused, ensuring that all projects meet high-quality standards. Able to work independently and proactively, while also thriving in a collaborative environment. Required Qualifications and Experience: Matric and a tertiary qualification in 3D Drafting. Minimum of 3 years of experience in a manufacturing environment, specifically in a technical drawing office. Hands-on experience with CNC systems and production processes. Knowledge of materials like steel, aluminum, fiberglass, and woodworking. Strong communication skills, both verbal and written. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and experience working with 4x4 off-road vehicles is advantageous. Valid drivers license and own transport. Enthusiastic, self-motivated, and a team player.
