Job Description

Our LHCb group at Milano-Bicocca University and INFN (Milano, Italy) is seeking applications for postdoctoral positions. People interested in joining our group can apply for a two-year research grant from the University of Milano-Bicocca. These A2 Junior positions are ideal for those who have recently completed their PhD or are close to finishing. For detailed information, please download the call using this link. Feel free to contact us for more information about the grant or assistance with the application process. Our LHCb group in Milano-Bicocca is composed of 7 staff members, 5 postdocs, and 5 PhD students. Our group is involved in various analyses of flavour-changing transitions using data from the LHCb experiment at CERN's Large Hadron Collider. We contribute to the analysis working groups of semileptonic, charm, and rare decays. Additionally, we contribute to the development of software and hardware required to operate the detector at higher luminosity. We are directly involved in the R&D for the upgrades of the RICH and ECAL subdetectors and in trigger developments based on edge ML techniques. On the infrastructure side, we have two servers equipped with state-of-the-art GPUs (Nvidia A100 and A6000) and an array of 8 FPGAs will be installed by the end of 2024 and will be initially used for RETINA developments (testing the infrastructure for downstream tracking in Run 4). More information about the research group and its activities can be found on our website: LHCbBicocca. Milan is very close to CERN (4-hour direct train to Geneva) and the group has funding for regular trips to the laboratory. Milan is the most international among Italian cities and while the living costs are higher than average in Italy, it offers many cultural and entertainment opportunities. It is a major transportation hub, with three international airports and high-speed trains connecting to Rome, Florence, Bologna, Venice, Turin, and Naples. The alps are within 1h and the Ligurian seaside 2h by car or train. J-18808-Ljbffr
