Founding Engineer

At Stronghold, we’re on a mission to simplify life for grown-ups. Our smart digital vault makes it easy to organise, manage and share life’s essential information. We use AI to automate the drudgery out of our customer’s lives, and we use end-to-end encryption so that their data remains their own.

About the role

We’re hiring for our first engineer to help us build amazing app experiences from the ground up with React Native and TypeScript. You’ll get to work directly with our founding team, who are veterans of successful startups and scaleups. You’ll also set the baseline for everyone else who joins the company as we grow.

Responsibilities

• Help us define and execute our technical and product strategy
• Develop and maintain our cross-platform apps, ensuring a brilliant user experience for our customers.
• Write clean, efficient, high-quality code
• Develop clear, appropriate architectural designs
• Work well others, including technical design and code reviews
• Take ownership of the full lifecycle of our applications
• Establish a high-bar for future team members
• Establish baseline development workflows and best practices
• Lead the technical decision-making process around tools, architecture, and frameworks as the company scales

Qualifications

• 4+ years of software development experience
• 3+ years specialising in React Native with TypeScript.
• Strong understanding of React Native state management solutions (e.g., Redux, React Query, Zustand, Legend State).
• Proficient with full-stack development, including RESTful APIs or GraphQL, and databases (SQL or NoSQL).
• Proficient with Git or similar version control systems
• Proficient with Android and iOS app release processes

Nice to have

• Familiarity with native crypto technologies
• Familiarity with using AI to automate data and document processing
