Commercial Vehicle Field Service Engineer
Our client, a global leader in the supply of mechanical, hydrodynamic, electrical, hydraulic, and electronic drive and braking systems, is seeking a Commercial Vehicle Field Service Engineer to join their team.
Position: Permanent, Full-Time
Location: Home-based and on customer sites, ideally located in or around the Luton area, north of the M25, to provide support across regions including Oxford and Norwich.
Key Responsibilities:
* Perform diagnostics and repairs at customer and third-party locations.
* Conduct major unit replacements on-site as needed.
* Provide support to Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) and assist with new product launches.
* Collaborate with the Commercial Vehicle sales team to promote product performance and identify field service opportunities.
* Offer technical support and advice to sales colleagues.
* Build and maintain strong relationships with customers and their representatives.
* Communicate with Health & Safety and Field Service Managers regarding any on-site issues.
* Minimise asset downtime through efficient customer collaboration.
* Follow all Health, Safety, and Environmental guidelines.
* Represent the company professionally at all times.
* Complete assignments at the company’s workshop facilities when required.
* Ensure timely completion and submission of all paperwork and engineering reports.
* Manage expenses and stock levels responsibly.
* Maintain company vehicles as per policy and participate in stock takes.
* Stay updated on training requirements, both mandatory and product-specific.
* Share product knowledge and provide feedback on quality issues as observed.
Skills and Qualifications:
* Strong background in Heavy Goods Vehicles (HGV) and bus systems.
* Completed engineering apprenticeship (minimum Level 5 qualification preferred).
* Experience in field service and engineering, with exposure to electric vehicles.
* Excellent diagnostic skills and IT proficiency.
* Full UK driving license.
* Must pass a Drugs and Alcohol-related Medical upon joining.
Benefits Package:
£50,000 - £60,000 per annum (depending on experience)
41 hours per week (Monday-Thursday, 8 am-5 pm; Friday, 8 am-3.30 pm)
Company Vehicle
Annual Bonus (pro-rata for the year of joining)
20 days holiday (pro-rata upon joining)
Pension: 3% employee contribution, 6% employer contribution
