Senior Technician/Lab Manager Position in Molecular Cardiology Location University of Milan and IRCCS Monzino Cardiology Center, Milan, Italy Host Lab Group of Cardiac Development, Remodeling and Regeneration 1 year with possibility of extension for 5 years A position for a Technician/Lab Manager is available in the Group of Cardiac Development, Remodeling and Regeneration under the supervision of Dr. Paola Cattaneo. The group is part of the University of Milan a center of Excellence and one of the biggest University in Italy and is located at the Monzino Cardiology Center in Milan, Italy. The research focus of the Cattaneo group is to decipher mechanisms by which transcription factors, regulatory elements and epigenetic enzymes orchestrate heart development, cardiac regeneration and fibrosis. The person will help managing and executing projects focusing on understanding transcriptional and epigenetic mechanisms controlling fibroblast activation as well as RNA translational mechanisms controlling cardiomyocyte differentiation and maturation. Specific techniques will include analyses of mouse models, induced pluripotent stem cells and primary cell culture using a variety of molecular, biochemical and functional techniques (such as advanced microscopy and genomics/ transcriptomics). The selected candidate will be in charge of executing techniques critical for several of the lab’s projects. Preference will be given to candidates with experience in mice handling and/or iPSCs culture and differentiation. Prospective start date: September 2024- December 2024 The contract is initially of 1 year with possibility of extension for 5 years. Salary scale is to be determined based on previous work experience. The position is based in Milan, Italy. General requirements: • MSc or a PhD degree in Biology, Biotechnology or similar subjects. • Strong technical skills in molecular and cellular biology. • Previous experience in mouse handling and FELASA accreditation is highly recommended • Previous experience in iPS cell culture is considered a preferential requirement. • Organizational and lab managing skills, time efficient, good communication skills and open mind. • Independent working method but also team-oriented work. • Strong analytical skills and a creative, problem solving-oriented mindset are required. • Good knowledge of verbal and written English Main Tasks: • Conducting experiments using transgenic mouse models (colony management, treatments and organ harvest). • iPS cells culture and differentiation to cardiomyocytes. • Histological and functional analysis for the characterization of cardiac phenotypes • FACs sorting and primary cell culture • Molecular biology experiments (e.g. cloning, RNA-seq, ChIP-seq and ATAC-seq). • Support for grant applications, project reports and paper preparation.
