We are working with one of Europe's leading manufacturers in their field. They have a fantastic opportunity for an electrical engineer to join their team on a permanent basis
Job Description
The engineering team is responsible for minimising operational downtime and maximising operational efficiencies through ensuring the reliability and effectiveness of the plant and machinery.
Working within the engineering team the successful candidate will be able to swiftly respond to production breakdowns and deliver planned preventative maintenance on a wide range of highly automated machinery such as conveyors, extruders, palletisers, vacuum packers, form sealers and wrapping machines. They will also be able to carryout fault finding on PLC systems, complete electrical installation and carry out project work.
Shift Patterns: 12-hour shifts 6 - 6, alternating on a 4 on 4 off day and night pattern , site runs 24/7
Key Responsibility’s:
➢ To operate to a high degree of both Health & Safety and good housekeeping standards
➢ To operate within the HSE protocols e.g. Permit to Work, Risk Assessment, Method Statement, Safe System of Work, Standard Operating Procedures
➢ To ensure lock off procedures are followed at all times to ensure the safety of self and others on site.
➢ To carry out small projects, and modifications as required within any projects
➢ To be able to quickly assess the nature of a breakdown and act accordingly
➢ To be confident to share proposals for improvements across the site
➢ To develop, create and implement maintenance SOP’s
➢ To carry out PPM inspections and maintenance, and to carry out corrective maintenance repairs on a timely basis.
➢ To carry out general maintenance as required which can include lubrication tasks / schedules.
Job Related Experience, Knowledge and Skill Requirements:
- NVQ level 3 ,City and Guilds, Electrical / Mechanical or - Recognised Engineering Apprenticeship
- A thorough understanding of both Mechanical and Electrical skills
- 17th/18th Edition I.E.E. regulations
- Competency in PLC’s
- An aptitude to fault diagnosis and logical thinking
- Knowledge of Servo motor principles
- Must be able to read, understand and work with schematic drawings
- Hold advanced electrical wiring and maintenance skills
- Inspection, testing and certification (desirable)
- Good General Workshop Skills
- Must be capable of Self Organisation & Self-Motivation
- Experience of working with Computerised Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) (desirable)
- Demonstrable skills in CI, TPM, Lean techniques. (desirable)
Functional Skills:
- Detailed knowledge of business and own areas processes and procedures. Recognised as an expert in your own area
- Delivers quality and accuracy in own work
- Able to cope under pressure and flex with peaks in personal workload
- Able to anticipate/identify problems and use available resources to provide effective solutions
- Able to act on decisions with the required amount of urgency
- Good awareness of a manufacturing environment
- Ability to work to deadlines
