Graduate Teaching Assistant – Trafford, Salford or South Manchester

The job
Working as a graduate teaching assistant in a secondary school can be incredibly varied – where you will be challenged and rewarded in equal measure! You could be supporting a child 1:1 or working with small groups of pupils, supporting children with SEND or providing targeted intervention in areas such as reading and writing. You could be assigned to a particular curriculum area providing academic support such as Science or MFL, or you might be supporting pupils at risk of exclusion within an inclusion unit.
As no two roles are the same, we’ll work with you to identify your strengths, career aspirations and personal preferences before we get to work setting you up with interviews/trials for permanent, contract or longer-term positions. As a talent search consultancy, we understand that that most applicants require job security – so we won’t waste your time asking you to do day to day supply.
We are currently recruiting Graduate Teaching Assistants to work in secondary schools in Trafford, Salford and South Manchester.
For all permanent and contract roles you will be paid in line with the school’s pay policy according to your qualifications and experience. If you are employed on a temporary basis before being made permanent, you will be paid the market rate for teaching assistants – currently £85-£100 per day.
The applicant
As a graduate teaching assistant supporting children in secondary schools, you’ll need:
* A degree
* an ability to build strong working relationships with pupils and adults
* a can-do attitude
* to be a self-starter and self-motivated
* to be a strong communicator
* an appreciation of different barriers to learning and how to overcome them
* flexibility
* creativity
* a good standard of numeracy and literacy
* strong organisational skills
* patience and a sense of humour
* to enjoy working with children and young people
We are keen to hear from you if you’re looking to develop a career within secondary schools and you have experience or an interest in working with pupils with SEND or who are at risk of exclusion.
You must enjoy working with children and young people – and especially be committed to unlocking their potential!
You’ll also need to pass our strict vetting process in line with “Keeping Children Safe in Education” including DBS and registration interview.
