Who we are

Clarity is a French-American healthcare company.

At the core of our mission is a commitment to developing comprehensive, preventive, and personalized healthcare solutions.

Our team is focusing on developing a home-based and immersive neuromodulation device that uses virtual reality and biosensors to improve the health and quality of life of people with Alzheimer’s disease.

By bringing these solutions to people with neurological conditions, we are taking the first step in redefining how we approach and maintain human health as we age.

As a member of our team, you will play a significant role in pioneering those solutions and improving the lives of hundreds of millions of patients and families worldwide.

If you are looking for your next challenge at a mission-driven company and want to solve the world’s biggest challenges, please apply!

Your role

In this role, you will be a key contributor to Clarity's efforts to explore how auditory stimulation can positively influence brain activity. Collaborating closely with a multidisciplinary team of engineers, neuroscientists, and clinical partners, you will help design and test sounds used in a novel sensory stimulation therapy aimed at enhancing cognitive function in Alzheimer's patients. You will work under the guidance of two supervisors, gaining insights into both the academic and industry sides of auditory neuroscience research. The goal of your work will be to create sounds that are pleasant and capable of eliciting specific brain responses, helping shape the future of non-invasive neuromodulation therapies.

Supervisors: Carolina Reis Ph.D (Scientific Director at Clarity) & Luc Arnal Ph.D (Researcher at Auditory Cogniton and Communication lab - Institut de l'Audition, Centre Pasteur).

What you will do

  • Develop a comprehensive library of auditory stimuli to be evaluated.
  • Conduct EEG studies at the Pasteur Institute (Institut de l'Audition) to investigate how these sounds influence brain activity, analyzing data from a cohort of 20 subjects.
  • Utilize advanced signal processing techniques to analyze EEG data, extracting key metrics of brain function modulation.
  • Synthesize findings and present them in a written report, providing actionable insights into how auditory stimuli can be optimized for therapeutic use.

Technical Requirements:

  • Proficiency with analytical programming languages (Python and Matlab).
  • Experience with time-series signal processing and EEG datasets.
  • Experience in the field of neuromodulation is preferred.

Educational Requirements:

Given the complexity and the specialized expertise required, candidates pursuing or holding a Master’s degree (Bac+5) in Neuroscience, Data Science, or Biomedical Engineering are preferred.

Soft skills:

  • Exceptional problem-solving skills and the ability to think critically.
  • Excellent team player with effective communication skills.
  • Proactive and capable of exploring solutions independently.
  • Attention to detail and commitment to delivering high-quality work.
  • You have a hacker mindset and you enjoy taking on technical challenges.
  • Love fast iteration cycles.

Location:

The internship will be on-site in Paris and no remote work is possible.

Language Requirements:

We are an English-speaking team, so candidates must be fluent in spoken and written English.

Duration of Internship:

Internships in France for higher education typically last between 5 to 6 months. The exact duration can be discussed based on the project needs and the candidate’s availability. The position is available as of January 2025.

To be eligible you must be able to provide an internship agreement from a French school/university.
