Our client, a law firm, are seeking an experienced Professional Indemnity Claims Handler to join their team. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work directly with clients, guiding them through the claims process and defending a wide range of professionals, including accountants, architects, engineers, solicitors, IFAs, and surveyors.
Key Responsibilities:
Manage a diverse caseload of professional indemnity claims under a range of delegated authority claims handling schemes for insurer clients. Handle professional indemnity claims from initial notification through to settlement or successful rebuttal, working independently or with panel solicitors based on claim value and complexity. Assess new claims, including liability, quantum, and preliminary coverage, to establish the most suitable strategy and adjust as necessary throughout the claim's lifecycle. Provide direct client assistance, including drafting correspondence, approving responses, instructing experts, and negotiating settlements. Collate monthly management information, assist with billing, and engage in business development alongside qualified fee earners.
Candidate Specifications:
Educated to degree level (or equivalent). Proven experience in handling professional indemnity claims and managing pre-litigation aspects of files. Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with a confident and approachable telephone manner. Ability to prioritize a busy workload and meet SLA deadlines. IT literacy, including proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel. Skilled negotiator with a practical, innovative, and commercial mindset. This role is primarily based in Bristol, with options for hybrid work.
