Job Description

As a Capital Projects Design Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in the successful execution of assigned capital projects from concept to completion. This position is responsible for designing and implementing turnkey solutions, effectively collaborating with cross-functional teams, and independently managing projects to meet deadlines and objectives. A strong emphasis is placed on the ability to grasp and integrate knowledge across multiple engineering disciplines, as well as leveraging experience with design, machining, fabrication, and vendor management while maintaining budget and timeline constraints.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Design and manage the complete turnkey process from concept through installation for assigned capital projects
  • Develop detailed project plans, schedules, and budgets, ensuring adherence throughout the project life cycle
  • Coordinate and manage multiple projects while maintaining timelines and budgets
  • Gain expertise in multiple engineering design disciplines, including Mechanical, Electrical, Controls, and Programming
  • Apply knowledge of design that incorporates machining, fabrication, and manufacturing processes to ensure project success
  • Utilize SolidWorks or equivalent CAD software for design and development
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with vendors and subcontractors, ensuring quality and timely delivery
  • Provide clear communication to the management team on project status and updates
  • Research and implement new technologies to support process and equipment expansion
  • Maintain adherence to budget and project deadlines throughout the project life cycle
  • Perform other duties as assigned

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering preferred, or equivalent experience
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in an industrial machine shop environment (Experience in machining and welding is a plus).
  • SolidWorks CAD modeling experience required
  • Project Management experience preferred
  • Proven ability to lead organizational change
  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to manage both timelines and budgets
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with specific reasoning skills for defining problems, collecting factual data, and drawing validated conclusions
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints and CAD drawings
  • Computer proficiency, including Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Occasional travel within the region, with flexibility in schedule as needed
