Role: Powertrain Mechanical Design Engineer (Lead, Principal & Senior)
Salary: Senior £50k to £60k - Principal £61k to £70k - Lead £70k to £75k

My client is a leading engineering consultancy specialising in the design and development of cutting-edge powertrain systems. We are seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer (Powertrain) to join our team and play a key role in the creation of high-performance, reliable, and efficient powertrain solutions. Job Responsibilities:
- Design and develop powertrain components, including engines, transmissions, drivelines, and other drivetrain systems.
- Use CAD software (e.g., CATIA, SolidWorks, Creo) to create detailed 3D models and technical drawings of powertrain parts and assemblies.
- Perform engineering calculations, including thermal, stress, and fatigue analysis, to validate designs and ensure durability and performance.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including vehicle integration, manufacturing, and testing, to ensure designs meet performance, cost, and safety targets.
- Work closely with suppliers and production teams to develop prototypes and ensure manufacturability.
- Conduct design reviews, root cause analysis, and implement design modifications to address issues or improve system performance.
- Stay up to date with emerging technologies and trends in powertrain design, including hybrid and electric vehicle systems.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- Years of experience in powertrain design and development.
- Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., CATIA, Creo, SolidWorks) and finite element analysis (FEA) tools.
- Strong understanding of internal combustion engines, electric motors, transmissions, and hybrid powertrain systems.
- Knowledge of materials and manufacturing processes relevant to powertrain components.
- Excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
