SAP Technical Consultant - ABAP/RAP Modules

Job Title : Senior SAP ABAP Technical Consultant with RAP Employment Type : Full-Time Job Summary : We are looking for a Senior SAP ABAP Technical Consultant with deep expertise in the Restful ABAP Programming Model (RAP) to drive the development and implementation of SAP solutions using modern development techniques. The ideal candidate will have 8 years of experience in ABAP development, with a strong focus on RAP, Fiori, and S/4HANA technologies. This role involves working closely with functional consultants, technical teams, and business stakeholders to design, implement, and enhance custom solutions for complex business processes. Key Responsibilities : 1. RAP (Restful ABAP Programming Model) Development : - Lead the development and implementation of SAP solutions using the RAP framework for creating cloud-native, efficient, and scalable applications. - Design, develop, and optimize OData services using RAP in SAP S/4HANA, ensuring seamless integration with Fiori UI5 apps. - Collaborate with functional consultants to translate business requirements into efficient RAP-based technical solutions. - Build and implement custom CDS (Core Data Services) views, annotations, and behaviors required for RAP services. 2. ABAP Development and Enhancements : - Develop and enhance ABAP programs, reports, interfaces, and forms in the SAP environment (S/4HANA and ECC). - Optimize and refactor legacy ABAP code to align with best practices and modern SAP architecture. - Design and implement custom BAPIs, BADIs, and user exits for business process extensions and integration. 3. Fiori/UI5 Integration : - Develop backend logic and OData services for Fiori/UI5 applications using ABAP and RAP. - Collaborate with Fiori/UI5 developers to ensure that UI and backend services are tightly integrated. - Ensure optimal performance and user experience of custom Fiori applications by leveraging RAP and OData. 4. SAP S/4HANA and Cloud Development : - Work on S/4HANA development projects, ensuring that custom developments adhere to the S/4HANA programming guidelines. - Design, develop, and maintain custom applications leveraging Fiori elements and modern SAP technologies. - Utilize new S/4HANA capabilities and features, including S/4HANA Cloud and SAP Cloud Platform, for custom development. 5. Integration & Interface Development : - Develop and maintain interfaces between SAP and non-SAP systems using technologies like IDoc, REST, SOAP, and RFC. - Design and implement APIs and integration logic for seamless data exchange and process automation between SAP and external systems. 6. Code Optimization & Performance Tuning : - Conduct performance analysis and optimization of ABAP programs and custom developments. - Optimize RAP-based applications for performance, scalability, and resilience. - Apply best practices for efficient memory management and execution time optimization in ABAP. 7. Collaboration & Mentoring : - Collaborate with business analysts, functional consultants, and architects to define technical solutions and provide input on feasibility and effort estimation. - Mentor and guide junior ABAP developers, providing expertise on ABAP, RAP, and best practices. - Provide technical leadership during the design, development, and testing phases of projects. 8. Documentation & Quality Assurance : - Write technical specifications, development documentation, and provide input into system design and architecture. - Participate in code reviews, ensuring that the quality of code meets industry standards. - Adhere to SAP best practices, methodologies, and guidelines for development and testing. 9. Continuous Learning & Knowledge Sharing : - Stay up-to-date with the latest SAP technologies, including S/4HANA, RAP, CDS views, Fiori/UI5, and the SAP Cloud Platform. - Share knowledge and best practices with team members to ensure that the team remains current with the latest trends and technologies. Required Skills and Qualifications : Experience : - 8 years of experience in SAP ABAP development, with at least 3-4 years of hands-on experience in the Restful ABAP Programming Model (RAP). - Strong experience in implementing and enhancing applications using the SAP Fiori/UI5 framework and developing OData services. - Extensive experience with SAP S/4HANA, including custom development, performance tuning, and adapting to new S/4HANA features. - Proficient in ABAP Objects, classical ABAP, Core Data Services (CDS), annotations, AMDP, BOPF, and Fiori Elements. Technical Skills : - Deep understanding of the Restful ABAP Programming Model (RAP), Fiori/UI5, OData, and SAP Gateway. - Experience in developing and enhancing custom OData services using RAP and ABAP. - Strong knowledge of SAP S/4HANA architecture and development guidelines, with experience on S/4HANA Cloud developments. - Experience with ABAP on HANA, including database views, SQL scripting, and performance optimization for HANA-based applications. - Familiarity with SAP Fiori Elements and the ability to work with front-end developers to ensure that UI components are tightly integrated with backend services. Integration Knowledge : - Experience with integrating SAP with other enterprise systems via IDocs, REST, SOAP, RFC, and APIs. - Understanding of SAP PI/PO or SAP Cloud Platform Integration (CPI) for handling complex integrations. Project & Communication Skills : - Strong project management and leadership skills, with the ability to guide a team of developers. - Excellent problem-solving, troubleshooting, and debugging skills in SAP development. - Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to interact with both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Certifications : - SAP ABAP Certification or equivalent technical certifications are preferred. - SAP S/4HANA certifications or other related certifications in modern SAP technologies are a plus.
