Job Description
Rubicon Consulting is currently recruiting for an Electrical Commissioning Engineer on a 6 Month Contract based in West Yorkshire.
This role is OUTSIDE IR35
Role Description:
Ensure that all the electrical / instrumentation installation and commissioning activities within the Project at site level, are conducted in a safe, efficient and environmentally acceptable manner.
Main Responsibilities:
· To ensure compliance with company procedures and work instructions, guide notes and other information that forms part of the quality assurance, health and safety and environmental management systems.
· To ensure the timely testing and commissioning of all equipment and instrumentation.
· To undertake AP duties and prepare, issue and control permits as required.
· Inspection and acceptance of the installation by the Client.
· To check process control software in conjunction with a Systems Engineer.
· Prepare “Snag List” with respect to electrical/instrumentation items and ensure satisfactory rectification.
· To undertake electrical acceptance/takeover demonstrations and to prepare and complete all relevant documentation to record testing procedures to meet contractual and Company requirements.
· Ensure that all relevant commissioning documentation is complete and accepted by the Client.
· To mark up all site electrical drawings and assist in the production of ‘As Built’ drawings.
· Ensure that, upon satisfactory completion of electrical/instrumentation installation, the Contractor demobilises and removes all surplus materials, leaving the site in a clean and tidy state.
· To ‘trouble shoot’ malfunctioning equipment and systems, and where appropriate perform corrective actions.
· To liaise with Client’s Representatives at site level to agree modes of operation and, where applicable assist in the production of Method Statements to cover site activities.
· To liaise with Vendors and Suppliers to ensure the correct commissioning and operation of equipment and items of plant.
· To provide feedback on the suitability and operation of items of equipment.
· The supervision and training of Client operational staff.
· To review the Functional Design Specification and Operation and Maintenance Manuals.
· To produce a daily diary of events in conjunction with the Site/Commissioning Manager.
· Undertake the training supervision of Assistant Resident Engineers as required/if applicable.
· To report progress against the agreed programme and any delays to the Site/Commissioning Manager.
To check materials and workmanship of the Sub-contractor to ensure the works are installed in accordance with the ‘Approved for Construction’ drawings, materials and specifications.
Essential Requirements/Experience:
· Industry recognised electrical qualification at a minimum of BTEC Level 3 or C&G Level 3 or above, or equivalent level formal qualification.
· BTEC Level 3 in Inspection and Verification, or C&G 2391 Inspection & Testing (which was previously C&G 2394 & 2395) to act as Appointed Person.
· Electrically based Degree / HND / HNC, or BTEC Level 4 or NVQ Level 4 or above.
· IOSH Managing Safely in Construction or NEBOSH equivalent
· Demonstrable experience, commensurate to the level of the role, in commissioning within the water and wastewater industry and/or related sectors.
