Job Description
We have an exciting opportunity for a technically strong Mechanical or Electrical Maintenance Technician to join our Engineering team. Working as part of our highly trained and experienced Engineering team, our technicians play an essential role to ensure that our production plant operates daily by; conducting planned preventative maintenance and responding to emergency break downs in a fast-paced manufacturing plant.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Take responsibility for health, safety, and well-being to deliver a safety-first culture
* Bring a root cause-based mindset and culture to deliver high quality solutions
* Undertake repairs, servicing, and maintenance of a wide range of production plant and machinery to the highest standard with work requests and pre-determine specifications
* Design, promote and carry out preventative maintenance
* Fault finding, testing and the removal or adjustment of existing fittings, fixtures, and parts
* Assist the Maintenance Engineer to ensure that adequate stock levels are maintained for all spare part lists and ensure that all necessary records are completed accurately.
* Adhere to existing working practices, methods, procedures, undertake relevant training and development activities and to respond positively to new and alternative systems.
* Maintain collaborative working practices, building strong relationships with all internal stakeholders. Work closely with Production to prioritise daily workload and plant maintenance
* Manage breakdowns with urgency to minimise downtime, working outside of core hours, unprompted with the wider team where valuable to do so
* Own a high-quality preventative maintenance schedule to reduce downtime, and achieve optimal levels of capacity and efficiency
* Have the ability and confidence to make pragmatic decisions using knowledge, experience and judgement
* Demonstrate resiliency and ambition to build and drive long term engineering excellence
* Act as an ambassador for our company values and adhere to all company policies and procedures
Essential Criteria
* 3rd level qualification in Engineering or similar
* HND/HNC in Mechanical Engineering, and/or time served Mechanical background
* A minimum of 3 years’ experience gained in a manufacturing environment, or similar role
* Experience working with servicing, repairs and maintenance of plant machinery
* Knowledge of current H&S legislation
* Root cause analysis & fault-finding experience on automated machinery & electrical systems
* Ability to read, interpret and apply information from files, electrical drawings, catalogues, reports, and manuals
Desirable Criteria
* Control & Automaton systems experience
* Inverter drives, HMIs, and PLCs (preferably Siemens)
* Mechanical drive systems
* Pneumatic and hydraulic systems
* LEAN methodologies experience
